Ex-Bolton goalkeeper Joel Coleman is on the brink of joining Millwall FC, as the Lions look to build on a promising 8th placed Championship finish last season.

The Englishman, who has been a free agent since June after his contract at League One side Bolton Wanderers expired, has reportedly already agreed a deal with the Lion’s, with only the medical and formal signing off on the move to make it official.
This move further addresses Millwall’s goalkeeping department, with manager Alex Neil looking to fill the void left by Lukas Jensen’s achilles injury back in April - the arrival of Coleman would bring considerable experience, while also encouraging healthy competition for the number one spot between himself and the two other new goalkeeping recruits Steven Benda and Max Crocombe.
29-year old Coleman has been a regular fixture for various sides in England’s second, third and fourth tiers since 2014, and has donned the goalkeeping jerseys of Oldham Athletic, Huddersfield Town, Shrewsbury Town, Fleetwood Town, Rochdale, Ipswich Town and most recently that of his hometown club Bolton Wanderers.
Coleman even has a Championship Play-Off winners medal to his name, having been part of the Huddersfield side that rose to England’s top tier in 2017, and even keeping a clean sheet in the first leg of their semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday

Though usually brought to his former clubs in a back-up role, the Millwall goalkeeping dilemma presents Coleman with the opportunity to make the number one spot his own. With the depth and range of his experience, which includes making a Premier League appearance in the 2018/19 season, the 6ft 6in keeper could well prove to be a useful signing at the Den.
