In the modern age of social media, footballers completing side quests is a pretty common occurrence.
Whether it be making TV appearances, collaborating with your favourite content creator, or even uploading behind-the-scenes content to their own social media – it's safe to say you see Premier League ballers in the wild much more often than you used to.
And one of the biggest culprits of doing exactly that is current Nottingham Forest star Ola Aina.
Aina has become an online cult hero in recent years with his entertaining Snapchat stories, most commonly detailing the changing room and daily training shenanigans of his teammates at Forest.
But this past week, Aina's shenanigans raised eyebrows and made headlines after an appearance on Channel 4's YouTube channel caused quite the commotion, and not for the right reasons.
First, let's give a little context to the situation.
Aina is currently out injured, which is probably a good thing because I can't imagine his manager Sean Dyche would be particularly fond of this if he were available for selection.
And the way he chose to spend his time off in this instance was on the YouTube show called 'Dilemmas' produced by Channel 4 – that's certainly one way to go about active recovery.
Essentially, in this episode footballers were seeking advice on their dilemmas from a panel comprised of 'savage kids' and 'unruly aunties', as Channel 4 calls them anyway.
In walks Ola Aina, who spouts one of the most outrageous 'dilemmas' you will likely ever hear, not just from a baller's mouth but in any setting you can think of.
footballer's girlfriend… Yup, you read that right.🗣️🇳🇬 Ola Aina: "I'm at the talking stage with another footballer's girlfriend.

I can't say which club he plays for. We've been talking for a few weeks, and I think she likes me even more than her boyfriend.” 😂🤯 pic.twitter.com/izogTYc7jU
In fact, not only did he say that, but he then proceeded to double down by saying that he thinks the girl likes him more than her current boyfriend… Clearly Aina isn't on any sort of modesty.
This, as you'd expect, caused quite the stir in the footballing social media space and with news outlets across the country.
Aina refused to say which club the player played for, citing it as 'confidential information', which led to an uprising of speculation around who the boyfriend could be.
Tosin Adarabioyo was the conclusion; following his mistake against Leeds midweek, his poor performance was attributed to finding out Aina was in the midst of taking his missus.
A bit harsh on the poor lad if you ask me; I'm sure his relationship is happy and loving.
The media are like a pack of hyenas when seemingly dramatic stories like this one come about, and all of the outlets jumped on the story with a wide variety of theories swirling.
But, as is often the case, they may have gotten a little overzealous in filling their publications with words of disdain at Aina's dilemma.
Aina today responded to the backlash received from the video on his aforementioned world-famous Snapchat story, and what he had to say definitely put a spanner in the works.

It may be a cliche tale, but Aina really said, 'Don't believe everything you see on the internet,' and meant it.
Just a little bit embarrassing for all those who tried to take him down for what he said, isn't it?
So, as it turns out, all of that hullabaloo was for absolutely nothing, and Channel 4 has just had the entire football fanbase of the UK on strings for the best part of a week.
I suppose it's a good thing really, though. I mean, you wouldn't want to be in the position of the other player if what Aina said was true, would you?
