Ranking Every £100m+ Signing in Premier League History

As with everything nowadays, the price that clubs are paying for footballers is increasing and becoming ridiculously expensive if we are being honest.

Every transfer window hundreds of millions of pounds are being spent on players that realistically are not worth that kind of money. However, clubs have little choice as they battle to fight in every competition that they compete in. So in order to do this they need to try and attract the best players and with that comes very high costs.

In the Premier League alone there have been ten transfers in history that have accrued to over one hundred million pounds, with Enzo Fernandez’ move to Manchester City in the summer topping the list at a whopping £125 million.

The question is, how many of these deals worth over one hundred million have actually been worth it? Let’s take a look and rank them from best to worst in terms of a transfer deal.

Ranking Every £100m+ Signing in Premier League History

9. Florian Wirtz (£100 Million)

It is safe to say since arriving at Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen, Florian Wirtz hasn’t exactly hit the ground running. The attacking midfielder had a big reputation when he landed in England but it seems as if he has struggled to adapt to the physicality of the best league in the world. So far during his time at Liverpool he has registered just sixteen goal contributions in fifty-five matches which is certainly not good enough from a player with the value of £100 million. Improvement needed in his second season for sure!

8. Bradley Barcola (£106 Million)

It is quite difficult to rank Bradley Barcola amongst the rest of these players as he only arrived in England a few weeks ago and has only made five appearances so far for the 2024/25 Premier League champions. The 24-year-old had a few very successful seasons at Paris-Saint-Germain which included winning back-to-back UEFA Champions Leagues. So Liverpool fans will be hoping that he can bring some of that winning mentality to Anfield and help to inspire the Reds to glory.

7. Jack Grealish (£100 Million)

Jack Grealish was the first player to be involved in a transfer worth over £100 million when he moved from his boyhood club Aston Villa to Manchester City back in the summer of 2021. Many feel as if it was the wrong move for him as it seemed as if Pep Guardiola’s system limited his qualities as he wasn’t given the freedom that he was at Villa Park. Despite that, Grealish still managed to win three Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup during his time at the Etihad Stadium. Not bad at all!

6. Elliot Anderson (£116 Million)

Much like Bradley Barcola, Elliot Anderson made his move from the City Ground to the Etihad Stadium just this summer. However, Anderson has already proven his ability in the top flight during his time at Nottingham Forest and also during the 2026 World Cup with England. Therefore, it seems as if this transfer is definitely a safer one than that of Barcola to Liverpool. Anderson has began the 2026/27 campaign quite strongly as Manchester City sit top of the Premier League and he has built quite a midfield partnership with Enzo Fernandez so far.

5. Alexander Isak (£125 Million)

This transfer of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United to Liverpool in the summer of 2025 could easily be ranked higher on this list if it wasn’t for an injury riddled season for the Swedish striker last campaign. During his time at St James’ Park, Isak proved his capabilities as he registered 54 Premier League goals in just 86 appearances. So it is very clear as to why Liverpool paid such a high price for his services and hopefully he can repay them in goals during his time at Anfield. He has started the 2026/27 season strongly scoring 4 in 5 so far in the Premier League.

4. Morgan Rogers (£117 Million)

Similarly to both Anderson and Barcola, Morgan Rogers made his £117 Million move to Chelsea just a few months ago. Rogers has shown his talent on the pitch for Aston Villa over the past few seasons and it seemed as if he was destined to make the next step in his career as he linked up with good friend Cole Palmer at Stamford Bridge. Since arriving at the club, the trio of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers have certainly hit the ground running with Chelsea scoring ten in their first five games this season. It will be interesting to see if their attacking talent can help to win them a trophy come the end of the season?

3. Enzo Fernandez (£125 Million)

Enzo Fernandez actually has two transfers worth over one hundred million, however in this case we will be talking about his move this summer to Manchester City to reunite with former manager Enzo Maresca. This weekend, Fernandez scored his first goal for his new club as they went on to beat Sunderland 5-3 at the Etihad Stadium and keep top spot in the Premier League going into the international break. If City are to take the title back off Arsenal in May then they will be relying on strong seasons from the likes of Enzo Fernandez.

2. Moises Caicedo (£100 Million)

In the summer of 2023 Chelsea actually paid over 100 million for both of their midfielders in Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez. Caicedo joined the Blues from Brighton & Hove Albion and has certainly not disappointed during his time at Stamford Bridge. It is clear to see that without the Ecuadorean in their midfield they are a lot more susceptible to conceding goals as he is yet to start a game this season and they are leaking a lot of goals under new manager Xabi Alonso.

1. Declan Rice (£100 Million)

Declan Rice’s move from West Ham United to the Emirates Stadium was a big statement of intent from the Gunners in their pursuit of getting their hands on the Premier League trophy. Since joining Arsenal, Rice has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and has also gone on to play a pivotal role for the English national side. His ability going both forwards and backwards in the midfield makes him the best value transfer on this list without a doubt and he could be vital this season if Arsenal are to retain their Premier League champions status.
