Ranking the 10 Best Free Agents Available on the Market Right now

The transfer window has now slammed shut. However, some clubs’ business might not be done. Why, you ask? Well, that’s because there are still some top players without a club. So, who are the 10 best free agents looking for a new club?

10. Philippe Coutinho

What a player this man used to be. One of the best entertainers the Premier League has ever seen. However, he has gone from a player worth over £100 million to someone without a club. How could someone who used to be the main man at Liverpool find himself clubless?

Well, after two years in Qatar, he moved back to his home nation to play in Brazil. After three seasons there, his contract wasn’t renewed, and the 34-year-old is now sitting and waiting for somebody, anybody, to take a gamble on him.

9. Tyrell Malacia

Injuries have ruined a career once again. Malacia used to be one of the most exciting young full-backs in the world. However, after only one full season with Manchester United, he wasn’t able to stay fit. In the last three seasons he played, he managed just 23 appearances.

Ultimately, these injuries and his lack of availability led to his contract not being extended, and now no club has gone near him. It is a sad end to his story. However, at 27, he can still find a club and recover the back end of his career.

8. David Alaba

The first player who used to play in the capital of Spain to make this list. Alaba is someone who isn’t new to the world of football, as the 34-year-old has been playing for top clubs for over a decade. However, it seems like Madrid might have been the end.

After playing just 30 games in the last two seasons, Madrid cut their losses and moved on. He will still be hoping to get picked up, whether that is for squad depth or as someone who can bring experience. Even at 34, he can still play a role in a strong side.

7. Oleksandr Zinchenko

The player Arteta took to Arsenal to help build a winning mentality has now found himself without a club after a season with Ajax. However, after playing just two games, you can see why.

In his last three seasons, he has played the same number of games he managed in his second season with Arsenal at 35. It seems like his interest in CS:GO has taken over. He might have to pick one of them sooner or later.

6. Yves Bissouma

Someone who spent four years with Spurs has found himself unable to join a club. His time was cut short at the end of last season, and even with so many clubs looking for midfielders, he hasn’t yet found a new home.

Time might not be up, as a certain club is looking for a new midfielder. Could we see him make the switch from Spurs to Chelsea as they look for an Enzo replacement?

5. Riyad Mahrez

The man who once had the best touch in the Premier League, now 35, has found himself without a club. It isn’t impossible to see why when looking at his age and the fact that his last few seasons have been spent in Saudi Arabia.

It could be possible that, if no club is found soon, we see the end of a wonderful career.

Mahrez could be a name we see leaving football sooner rather than later.

4. Karim Benzema

Another ex-Real Madrid player to make this list. Now 38 years old, Benzema has decided to leave Al-Hilal after just one season. Spending four full seasons in Saudi Arabia might have dropped his value for some sides. However, he is still a top number nine whose ability hasn’t left him yet.

It is a shock that no sides in Europe have taken the gamble to bring him in for the odd game. The level of experience and goal threat he would bring, even if he were used for just a few matches, is unlike almost anyone else.

3. Daniel Carvajal

The final man who used to play for Real Madrid. How has he gone from being in conversations for the Ballon d’Or two years ago to not having a club?

Well, there is a reason. One of them is Trent joining Madrid. The other is the injury that kept him out for a season.

With these facts combined with his age, you can see why Madrid didn’t give him a new contract. However, the fact that no one else has even tried to bring him in is a shock.

2. Raphael Guerreiro

This might be the biggest shock. How has a man who played 33 matches for Bayern last season, scoring six goals and getting two assists from full-back, not got a new club? He isn’t in his late 30s and still has a few years at the top left.

This might be one of the most shocking entries on the list. There are plenty of clubs who need a left-back, either as a rotation option or as a starter. However, they have seemingly ignored his existence.

This one doesn’t make sense.

1. Jadon Sancho

After three loan spells away from United, Sancho failed to find a new club. What makes this even more shocking is that, at each of the clubs he was loaned to, all three reached a European final that he played a part in getting them to.

He has gone from being offered an escape to Chelsea to having no club.

You can only wonder if he regrets not reducing his wages to join Chelsea. He was so close to having a new club. Now, he just waits for someone to call.
