The 10 Best 2025/26 Premier League Goals That Weren't Nominated for Goal of the Season

We have reached the end of the Premier League season and that leaves just a 1 more thing. It is time for the end of season awards to be given out. We have already seen the nominations for all of them. However, with some, especially the goals, there are so many amazing goals that weren’t nominated and today we will look at 10 that should’ve been nominated.

The Technical Beauties

Let’s start off with 2 of the goals that might not be typically seen as goal of the season contenders, however, are still phenomenal goals.

We first see Douglas Luiz against Chelsea for this section. It was a beautiful goal. Villa was on an attack before the ball was played across the 6-yard box. The first man left it for a dummy that flat footed the defenders. This allowed Luiz to pirouette the ball into the back of the net past Sanchez. It was a goal of technical brilliance and one that could have easily been in the 10 nominations.

We then move onto a goal that some might question the intention, however, the goal itself was an absolute peach. This was when Bernado Silva scored from almost an impossible angel against West Ham. He had the ball on the left side of the box and looked up. This is where the question of intention is pulled into factor as it looked like he looked to float a cross into the back post. Instead, his hit found the back of the net as it went over the head of Hermansen. Even if not an intended shot, the technique on show was world class.

The Unstable Placement

These goals are some of the most visually astatic goals as they are almost inch perfect and find the exact angel that makes them look camera perfect. These two goals are almost a shock to not be included in the nominations.

In this section we once again see a goal scored against Chelsea. However, this time it was Iliman Ndiaye. Everton found themselves on an attack with Beto receiving a pass that he flicked on towards Ndiaye. He would take a few touches as he entered the penalty area. However, soon after he would unleash a shot that defined top corner. Any more width or height on the shot and it would’ve hit the woodwork. It was perfect to the millimetre. Sanchez once again facing a shot that nothing he could ever hope to do would stop it.

Sanchez isn’t the only keeper that has faced this type of shot as Vicario also saw one. This was when Bournemouth faced Spurs. It was before Semenyo changed from red and black to the light blue of Manchester City. He found himself on the left-hand side of the box and managed to slot a long-ranged shot into the bottom right hand side netting. It was a beautiful attempt and an even better goal. An absolute super goal and one that no doubt got the attention of many top clubs especially City.

The Acrobatic Brilliance

This is the section that everyone loves. If it’s a scorpion kick, scissor kick or an overhead. They are goals that gets everyone standing and everyone loves to see even if they don’t find the back of the net. We saw 3 elite examples of them this season and 3 beautiful goals.

We start with Joao Palhinha against Bournemouth. It was a goal that came from a corner, and it was a mess in the box. The loanee saw the ball bouncing and instead of going for a header like many players would’ve, he went for the spectacular. He threw himself straight into an overhead kick finding the back of the net. It was a goal that announced him and showed exactly what he could do and made many fans fall in love with him.

Next, we see Charalampos Kostoulas against Bournemouth. Unfortunitaly for Bournemouth it looks like a lot of the spectacular was scored against them as Kostoulas would score a perfect overhead against them. Brighton played the ball into the box and Van Hecke would head it down. This is where Kostoulas would chest it up before smashing a form perfect overhead kick into the back of the net. It was perfect all foot and no shin in sight.

We finally end this section off with the most recent overhead kick. This time it is what could be seen as the greatest consolation goal ever. He would chest it up before smashing a gorgeous shot into the back of the net. While it didn’t affect the outcome, it ended Chelsea’s dry streak and did it in some style.

The Absolute Missiles

We end the goals that somehow missed the goal of the season nominations with 3 goals that came from nothing. All 3 of these goals are rockets that no keeper would dare to get a hand to.

We start this off with Moises Caicedo’s rocket against Liverpool. Caicedo found himself in a pocket of space and Liverpool kept backing away from him. He would quickly take up a position to shoot and would do exactly that. His shot flew straight in. The power behind it took it past Mamardashvili in an instant. It was a missile that was aimed for the top corner and found it’s target with no one able to stop it.

However, this is beaten when looking at the next goal by a Liverpool player. This goal would be scored against their best player Dominik Szoboszlai. Like we have seen and like his goal nominated for the goal of the season it was a free kick. This time it was his one scored against Manchester City. It was a 25–30-yard free kick and one that defied physics. The ball bent past the wall and smashed into the back of the net. It was a perfect hit with all the technique and power of someone using all the years of City beating them as fuel. It can be argued that it was an even better free kick than his one against Arsenal that was nominated.

However, we end this off with the biggest shock of all of them to not get nominated. This had to be Patrick Dorgu against Arsenal. It was a goal that started with him and Bruno having some nice linkup. Bruno would play a forward pass that would bobble up and bounce in front of Dorgu. He wouldn’t even look to take a touch and instead just hit it. It looked to have been sliced; however, this worked in his favour. The shot would curl away from Raya and smash into the crossbar before bouncing in. It was a gorgeous goal and one that could have been nominated for the goal of the season and even won it.
