The Football Season Started Yesterday in England... Why Doesn't It Feel Like it?

The World Cup is over and the Prem isn’t back. So, there isn’t any football in England currently is there? Well, that’s exactly what you would believe if you had been online recently. Football is back and it came back yesterday, so, why is no one talking about it?

Yesterday we saw football back in the form of the EFL cup as well as national leagues back in actions. However, there has been next to nothing showing that. It isn’t like there wasn’t drama in these games. One example if Millwall vs QPR where Millwall’s goalkeeper saved all 4 pens QPR had. So, why is nobody talking about it?

Let’s begin with the facts. The national league isn’t that large. Other than the fans of the clubs, not many people will be paying attention to when the league starts and what the results are. That doesn’t answer the EFL Cup though. 29 games played and somehow, they went under the radar. It doesn’t feel like football is back.

One of the reasons for this is because people and players are still recovering from the summer. There will be clubs from the EFL that haven’t got everyone back yet as some will still be on summer holidays. The other reason is because this summer transfer window has drawn a lot of attention away from the actual football.

With the Premier League having a new rule around transfers and finances prices have gone through the roof and that has caused a lot more eyes then normal to follow the transfer window. Then there is that fact. It isn’t the Prem. The most watched league in the world still isn’t back so that takes away the attention and hype.

However, one of the main reasons is that it’s the start of the EFL Cup. The cup doesn’t have the most followers in the world later let alone when it’s just started. That is another reason to why limited people are talking about it. What you will find is next Friday, football will feel like it’s back as the Championship gets underway.

So, while football is back, it will feel like it’s back in just under a week’s time.
