Fatawu might have just scored the best goal we have seen this season, not just in the Championship, but in the world. While it isn’t rare to see a goal scored from the halfway line or just inside the opponent’s half. With an example of this being the Premier League goal of the month winner Tyler Adams who scored from just inside Sunderland’s half. It is rare to see one from further away.
In the Championship we see a game between 2 clubs who really should be fighting for those automatic promotion spots in Leicester and Ipswich. Leicester got the game underway quick making it 1-0 in the 8th minute. However, in the 43rd minute we saw something special.
Leicester wins the ball back just outside their box and the ball is played to Fatawu who rode a challenge put in by Philogene-Bidace before skipping past Taylor. Then he looks up and sees something, Walton the Ipswich keeper off his line. He gets to the edge of the centre circle still in his half before pulling the trigger.
The shot goes long and high feeling like it stays in the air for an eternity before bouncing in the 6-yard box and going in. For a player to attempt a shot like that shows a level of confidence that not many people have. To get that shot on target is hard even from the edge of the opposition’s half let alone your own half and at the edge of the centre circle. Adding in the bit of technical flair and dribbling he showed, and you get one of the best goals you will ever see.

Would it be too early to say that could see the Puskas award land in his hands? I don ‘t believe so - that will be one of the greatest goals the King Power Stadium will see and the Championship will see for years to come.
