The Top 10 Greatest Goals of All Time - Ranked by Football Park

We've complied the top 10 best ever goals in football history, ranging from Champions League goals to World Cup screamers, and simply iconic finishes that defied expectations.

Football has seen plenty of incredible goals over the hundreds of years in its existence, and with the use of social media in the modern day, it has became so much easier to access a range of goals online, and coincedentally put them in a list for you to read... which is exactly what we're doing. So sit back, relax, and take a trip down memory lane, as we compile the top 10 best ever goals in football history, ranging from different data and overall public opinion.

Number 10 - Walking in a Wilshere Wonderland

Jack Wilshere: Arsenal 4-1 Norwich 2013

Picture the scene: Santi Carzola lays it off to Wilshere, who decides to give it him back after some pressure by Norwich. Santi to Giroud. Giroud to Wilshere. Wilshere to Giroud. Giroud to Wilshere. Goal. All. With. One. Touch. Football. I mean, this goal is still talked about today as one of the greatest ever Premier League goals, and I don't blame people for still speaking about it. Considering he was still only 21 as well at the time, and pulling something off like that? Unreal. I just feel sorry for Tim Kruel who had to watch all of that unfold in just a few seconds with absolutely zero chance of saving Wilshere's effort which seamlessly found the bottom corner.

Number 9 - Astonishing Acrobatics.. From that far out Ibra?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Sweden 4-2 England 2012

The fact that he's even had the cheek to attempt something so outrageous it definitely made some people spit their drinks out in shock in that moment. Sweden were already winning at that time, and a poor header from Joe Hart was more than capitalised on by football's original viking (sorry Haaland). A bicyle kick from over thirty yards out, looping over two England defenders retreating trying to clear a ball that was destined to go in. A freak of an athlete, and it really summarised him as a player and his true mentality of being the 'King of the Jungle'.

Number 8 - The infamous banana goal

**Roberto Carlos: Brazil 1-1 France 1997

Roberto Carlos had to be in this list, and it could've been his other trivela goal in the Copa Del Ray, where he scored from basically the byline. But no, we've chosen one of the most if not the most iconic free kick of all time at number 8. The run up, the power, the distance, everything taken into account describes how sensational this goal truely was (I think the run up was longer than how long it took for the ball to travel to the net as it went that fast!).

Number 7 - Rodriguez sets the world alight

James Rodriguez: Columbia 2-0 Uruguary 2014

Now this embodies the word iconic. A 22-year old midfielder from Columbia scored arguably the greatest World Cup goal off all time, chesting the ball down after finding a pocket of space and unleashing an absolute rocket that crashed off the underside of the bar and found the roof of the net, leaving Muslera no chance whatsoever. It was obviously voted goal of the tournament alongside winning the Puskas award as well, whilst Rodrguez picked up the golden boot for the tournament scoring six goals in total.

Number 6 - AGUEROOOOOOOOOO

Sergio Aguero: Man City 3-2 QPR 2012

Realistically, we can't have a list without the most iconic moment in Premier League history, can we? City defied expectations although going into the game as huge favourites, with QPR hoping to avoid relegation which they did, City came back from 2-1 down and produced the worst moment for Man United fans across the globe. The Citizens snatched the title away from the grasp of Man United after Rooney's goal was enough to give them the three points, but Manchester City were still alive, and Balottelli laid it off to Aguero, and the rest is history. Where do you want your statue Martin Tyler?

Number 5 - Dennis Berkgamp Dennis Berkgamp... DENNIS BERKGAMP DENNIS BERKGAMP

**Dennis Berkgamp: Netherlands 2-1 Argentina 1998

When it comes to sheer class, Bergkamp has it in abundance, and the quality of this goal is something all football fans can watch over and over and over again. That touch is out of this world, how he's managed to bring it down like that to knock it past an on-rushing defender, whilst not breaking stride as well slotting it past the keeper in the top corner. The best part? The ball never touched the floor. Not even once. He brought it down and volleyed it in one motion. Simply unreal technique, one that simply can't be taught.

Number 4 - The almost scientifically impossible goal

Lionel Messi: Barcelona 3-1 Athetlico Bilbao 2015

This could easily be number one with how majestic the goal was, and Messi has scored plenty of incredible goals in his career, but for us this one tops them all. A study was taken online and published to the internet about how nearly physically impossible this goal was, as Messi accellerated to 19.6mph in just under three seconds, and decelerated to beat three Bilbao defenders in just over a second with three sharp touches. The ball missed the keeper's outstretched hand by under six inches, and from 14 yards out with a window that small, Messi's margain of error couldn't have been off by more than 0.75 degrees. If he connected with the ball just 1.5mm to the left or right, theoretically he would've missed, as the margain of error is about the width of a blade of grass. There's a reason he's the best to ever exist.

Number 3 - Zizou: Elegance Personified

Zinedine Zidane: Real Madrid 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen 2002

Glasgow has not seen a better goal since this wonder volley from Zidane, as he unleashed his inner aggression all onto the ball to send it flying to the top left corner. The agility on display is something to behold, and what better prize than to score the winner in a Champions League final, especially with a strike like that. Iconic in so many ways, a true legend of football.

Number 2 - When Van Basten Painted the Perfect Picture*

**Van Basten: Germany 2-0 Soviet Union 1988

Something Roberto Carlos would be proud of, as Marco watched the ball ever step of the way to intricately loop the perfect volley over the Soviet Union's goalkeeper to seal the victory in the Euro Final, marked down as the most iconic goal in any final in our humble opinion. Truely a one-of-a-kind footballer, we just wish the quality was a bit better so we can watch it on a huge 4K 120fps screen constantly, but oh well.

Number 1 - Maradona's Legacy Unified

**Diego Maradona: Argentina 2-1 England 1986

Look away now England fans, the number one spot goes to Maradona with his infamous 'header' that sent England packing during the 1986 World Cup. His hand raised high in the air, and struck his fist to loop over Peter Shilton, in a goal that was named 'Goal of the Century' by FIFA. You don't get more iconic than this, as it takes the crown as the true King of all Goals, and our number one.
