The next generation of football always seems to be right around the corner with every single passing day.

In this era of the sport, and indeed the culture around the world right now, time is never of the essence. The newest 'shiny new toy' making a foray into their footballing career can be forgotten about almost immediately upon the arrival, days later it feels, of the very next iteration.

At Football Park, we love wonderkids as much as the next writer. But with younger players getting more and more limelight these days, it can be a headache to keep tabs on them all. As such, every Wednesday, we scour the globe to bring up five of our favourite young performers in the most recent week of the sport.

Bolton's on-loan Brighton starlet turned out with one of the performances of the season in League One on Tuesday night, helping himself to a brace for himself amidst the Trotters 5-1 rout over Stevenage - a result that has shot Steven Schumacher's into a healthy position ahead of their almost-guaranteed participation in the playoffs at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old winger was making his first league start since January, and opened the affair with a thunderous effort from 20 yards before adding a clinical second just four minutes into the second half. With a unique blend of pace, direction and boasting a clinical edge, the former Arsenal prospect was unplayable on the day and was a big help for Bolton's cruise to victory.

A former Blackburn Rovers loanee who has already secured six league goals and eight assists this term, Premier League scouts may well be sitting up and taking notice of Cozier-Duberry all over again. Aged just 20, he looks every inch the wide talent of the future he was pegged to be during his academy days, and a move up the pyramid feels inevitable very soon.

The Foxes might not have much to be thankful for these days, given their miserable senior season in the EFL Championship this season, but their academy turnouts have never been in question, such as the impeccable talent that is 16-year-old winger Jeremy Monga. Next off the production line could very well be Kirsten Otchere, who was at his best on Monday night in Premier League 2.

The 19-year-old striker was a menace through Leicester's 3-2 win over Leeds United on the evening, bagging a dramatic 92nd-minute winner on the evening for his second goal of the night. He now has 11 goals from his last 15 matches in all competitions, with his movement and hold-up play being supplemented by his clinical eye for goal.

This teenage talent may rapidly be outgrowing U21 football. Foxes fans and staff alike are confident in his maturity and outstanding physical attributes, and it seems only a matter of time before the name of Kirsten Otchere is one more well-known.

A Belgian wonderkid playing for Lille? That one sounds familiar. If he can do even half as well as the last one eventually did, then Fernandez-Pardo could be the next big thing.

The wide man delivered another headline display this last Sunday, scoring in a 4-0 rollocking of Toulouse to mark off a solid seven days - one that also saw him net a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Lens the weekend before. The 21-year-old winger had six shots in the win over Lens and was once again the biggest threat against Toulouse. His recent form has been blisteringly good, with him now having five goals in his last four Ligue 1 displays.

A Belgium youth international having an amazing breakout year in the senior game, Fernandez-Pardo's all-round threat and efficiency have got Lille dreaming of Europe this term.

Emilio Lawrence - 20 - Winger (Luton Town, Scotland)

A January signing on loan from Manchester City's talent factory in January, Emilio Lawrence had a big part to play as the Hatters went to Wembley at the weekend, netting a crucial equaliser against Stockport County as Jack Wilshere's side ran out as 3-1 winners to win the Vertu Trophy.

The 20-year-old Scotland U21 winger latched onto a perfect pass from Jordan Clark 22 minutes in, after Adama Sidibeh's goal had left them 1-0 down 11 minutes before, and slotted a great left-footed finish beyond Corey Addai to restore parity and get Luton into the ascendancy. A double from veteran striker Nahki Wells sealed the trophy, and Lawrence's second goal in as many matches against Stockport this term was left as a moment he won't soon forget.

Lawrence is a dynamic but direct wide talent with ungodly pace and composure beyond his years. In recent weeks, he has been one of League One's standout performances with his heritage hailing from an academy used to producing talents like Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Nico O'Reilly in recent years. A bright future, be that at Man City or somewhere else, looks guaranteed.

A powerful defender on loan from Ajax, introducing Dies Janse.

The centre back stands at a colossal 6'5, but carries and cool edge and passing range befitting of a far more experienced, agile star. Against Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie last weekend, the 20-year-old played the full 90 minutes of a 0-0 draw and laid on a number of perfect defensive contributions to keep the visitors at bay, fresh after scoring in their previous 2-0 win over Telstar.

The Netherlands U21 international has been one of the Eredivisie's standout young stars this term. With another flawless week in the books, it seems only a matter of time before bigger European clubs start circling the waters around him.
