Where Is Frank Lampard's 2019/20 Chelsea Squad Now?
Chelsea are no strangers to turnover, the Blues have seen managers and players walked out the door faster than they walked in since the Roman Abramovich era.
That trend has only continued since BlueCo acquired the West London club, as a total of six managers have led the team from the dugout since 2022.
One of those managers being Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, who was given a second opportunity to manage the club following a spell from 2019 to 2021.
Now managing high-flying Coventry City, Lampard has taken the Sky Blues from flirting with relegation to the play-off places.
In this piece we will have a look back to Lampard’s first spell with his beloved Chelsea and see where the starting eleven from his debut against Manchester United is today.
Having signed for Chelsea in August 2018 for a record fee of £71.6 million, Kepa Arrizabalaga was expected to be the future of Chelsea for years to come.
Kepa’s debut season with the Blues was a success winning the UEFA Europa League and finishing as runners-up in the Carabao Cup.
However, his second season was one of mistakes and scrutiny playing in 33 of Chelsea’s 38 matches in the Premier League before being phased out the side and replaced by Edouard Mendy for the following campaign.
Kepa would go on to make just 40 Premier League appearances for Chelsea over a three year span before being sent on loan to Real Madrid to cover for an injured Thibaut Courtois.

Currently with Bournemouth, Kepa has managed to find his feet with the Cherries becoming a regular starter for Andoni Iraola’s side, keeping six clean sheets in 25 appearances this season.
With two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup, Club World Cup and 508 appearances for the Blues on his CV, Cesar Azpilicueta is widely considered a legend amongst the Chelsea faithful.
After 11 years in West London, the Spanish defender would return to his native country with Atletico Madrid in 2023 following the expiration of his Chelsea contract.

Now in his second season with Atleti, Azpilicueta has made 50 appearances for Diego Simone’s side scoring one goal.
Having come through the Chelsea academy, Andrea’s Christensen had to wait for the opportunity to become a regular at Stamford Bridge.
Following two seasons on loan with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, the Danish defender was given a place in the Chelsea squad by then-manager Antonio Conte.
Christensen would go on to make 161 appearances for the Blues after cementing his place in the side winning the five trophies in five seasons, including the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

After the 2021/22 campaign, Christensen found himself out of contract having failed to agree to an extension with the London club.
He would sign for Spanish giants Barcelona in July 2022 on a four-year contract.
Christensen’s first couple of seasons in Spain were a success, making 74 appearances, helping Barcelona win the Supercopa de Espana and the La Liga title.
However, the Danish defender has struggled for fitness this season making just one appearance in all competitions.
Despite making 151 appearances for the Blues, Kurt Zouma was never able to nail down a consistent place in the starting eleven during his eight years with the club.
Having won a total of five trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge, Zouma moved across London to West Ham United in August 2021 in hopes of regular football.
Zouma was an instant hit with the Hammers registering 103 appearances in three years with the club, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League in the process.
He was named club captain in 2023, following the departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal.

Zouma currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Orobah on loan from West Ham United.
Emerson’s Chelsea career was one that consisted of mainly sitting on the bench, making just 71 appearances during his five years with the club.
Despite not registering many appearances for the Blues, Emerson was part of two European winning sides with Chelsea, assisting Oliver Giroud on route to a 4-1 UEFA Europa League win against Arsenal and scoring against Atletico Madrid in the round of 16 tie in the Champions League.

Emerson would join French side Lyon during the 2021/22 season before completing a permanent move to West Ham United in 2022, making 109 appearances for the Hammers and winning the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Jorginho has accomplished more than many would have assumed when he made his move from Napoli to Chelsea in 2018.
A £50 million signing by Maurizio Sarri, the Italy international made 213 appearances for Chelsea, winning the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.
With a host of trophies under his belt at club level, Jorginho would add to his collection with Italy as Gli Azzurri won the UEFA European Championship in 2020.
Jorginho’s performances during the tournament led to many individual accolades including a third place finish for the Ballon d’Or and being crowned UEFA Men’s Player of the Year for 2020/21.

The Italian midfielder now plays for fellow London side Arsenal, having signed for the Gunners in January 2023 for a fee of £12 million.
With 26 trophies to his name, Mateo Kovacic has become synonymous with winning.
The Croatian midfielder signed for Chelsea on loan from in August 2018, making 51 appearances, including a start in the UEFA Europa League final against Arsenal.
Kovacic’s loan would be made permanent in the summer of 2019 becoming an important figure under new manager Frank Lampard.
Following Lampard’s departure, Kovacic would remain a regular in the Chelsea squad picking up a total of 221 appearances in all competitions over a five year spell, winning four trophies - including the fourth Champions League of his career.
Kovacic would leave Chelsea in June 2023 for reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City.

Pedro signed for Chelsea in August 2015 following a dominant spell with Barcelona which included 20 trophies.

At the age of 37-years old, Pedro currently plays for Serie A side Lazio. He also had a season long spell with Roma prior to his arrival.
Mason Mount was viewed by many as the first name on the team sheet for Frank Lampard during his tenure at Chelsea. The English midfielder had spent time with Lampard at Derby County, reaching the Championship play-off final in 2019.
An impressive loan spell with the Rams saw Mount return to Chelsea and not look back. Registering 195 appearances for the Blues, Mount would win Chelsea Player of the Year in two consecutive seasons and become a focal point in the side's UEFA Champions League win under Thomas Tuchel in 2020/21.
After four years with Chelsea, Mount and the West London club would fail to agree on a contract extension leading to a transfer away from the club.

Mount signed for Manchester United in July 2023 for a fee of £55 million and was given the iconic number seven shirt on arrival, previously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo.
With such high hopes for the Red Devils, Mount has struggled with injuries during his two years in Manchester, amassing 38 appearances and scoring just once.
However, it hasn’t been all doom and gloom since the switch from London as Mount was part of the Manchester United side that won the FA Cup over Manchester City during the 2023/24 campaign.
Ross Barkley has had a rollercoaster of a career to say the least. Having burst onto the scene with Everton, the Liverpool born midfielder made a £15 million move to Stamford Bridge in January 2018.
Barkley’s Chelsea career never really took off, making more than 30 appearances in a season for the club just twice in five seasons, before being sent out on loan to Aston Villa for the 2020/21 campaign.
Having departed from Chelsea by mutual consent at the end of the season, Barkley would sign for French side OGC Nice before returning to the Premier League with Luton Town a year later.
Barkley saw a career renaissance with Luton, scoring five times in 35 matches. His performances led to media speculation as to whether a return to the England squad was imminent.

Although a return to the England squad never formulated, Barkley did secure a move to Champions League-bound Aston Villa.
Tammy Abraham led the line in Frank Lampard’s debut match in charge of Chelsea.
Having come through the Chelsea academy, Abraham was sent on loan to Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa at the beginning of his career.
The English forwards loan spells couldn’t have gone any better, winning Bristol City Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season following a 26 goal campaign before gaining Premier League experience with Swansea City the following campaign.
Abraham’s final loan was with Aston Villa, scoring 26 goals in all competitions while helping guide Dean Smith’s side back to the Premier League.
Having scored 60 goals across three seasons on loan Abraham was given the opportunity to regularly start for the Blues, scoring 18 goals in 47 appearances during the 2019/20 season.
Despite an impressive first season with Chelsea, Abraham would see his minutes regress the following campaign.
With a UEFA Champions League and Super Cup under his belt with Chelsea, Abraham would complete a move to Serie A side Roma linking up with Jose Mourinho.
It took Abraham no time to adjust to Italian football, having scored 27 goals in his debut season with Roma - winning the UEFA Europa Conference League in the process.
Having had such a successful campaign the year prior, Abraham would struggle to find the back of the net in his second season with Roma before suffering a long-term injury in the final game of the 2022/23 season.
