Where Will Eberechi Eze Go Next? And What Makes The Crystal Palace Star So Desirable
If a football novice sat down to watch Crystal Palace and was asked to 'spot their best player', it would likely take them little more than five minutes to notice Eberechi Eze as their talisman, playmaker and difference-maker.
Adam Wharton, Daniel Munoz and Marc Guehi wouldn't be too far behind, but there is no doubt that Eze is the figure that Oliver Glasner turns to when the Eagles need a moment of inspiration.
Whether this comes in the form of a beautiful volley against Arsenal or his tremendous first time hit to put his team 1-0 up at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final, the 26-year-old's proclivity for big moments has led to him becoming a fan favourite at Selhurst Park.
Yet with this capacity for headlines comes wave after wave of transfer rumours. Could he suit Ruben Amorim's Manchester United? Would Pep Guardiola turn the Englishman into one of the world's best?
Eze has added fuel to the fire by reportedly telling the club that he would be interested in leaving this summer. So where could he go?
Before exploring Eze's options, it's worth taking a look at what makes him so good. While his aforementioned ability to produce magical moments often sees him claiming South London headlines, there is plenty that the Greenwich-born midfielder does that goes under the radar.
He is in the top 15% of all Premier League midfielders for:
Eze's consistency is often underappreciated, perhaps due to his arguably underwhelming goals/assists output this season.

Yet he also averages 4.93 ball recoveries per 90, which puts him in the top 15% of all Premier League midfielders. His hard-work in a high press often goes unnoticed.
It’s this all-round ability — flair, work rate, and consistency — that makes him such a valuable target for top clubs this summer.
As much as Palace fans may despair at the prospect of losing Olise and Eze in consecutive seasons, it's important to remember that selling, when done correctly, can be a good thing - look at Brighton's continuous growth despite losing key players year after year.
TransferMarkt have the 26-year-old valued at £47 million as things stand, but should the Englishman be keen to stay in the Premier League, his price tag could be subject to inflation.
Manchester United
With Amorim expected to reshape his squad this summer, Eze will likely be one of an almost endless list of candidates for a move to Old Trafford. But on paper at least, he could be a real asset to the Red Devils in one of Amorim's number ten spots.
Glasner's 3-4-2-1 isn't quite the same as the Portuguese', but it's certainly a style that Eze would feel comfortable in. His diverse skillset: confidence beating a man, extensive passing range and an eye for goal all point to him finding joy as an ingredient of Amorim's revolution.
United's tendency to overpay for players means that a move to Manchester could prove extremely fruitful for Palace.
Tottenham Hotspur
It's too early to determine whether Ange Postecoglou will still be in North London by the time next season rolls around, but with Spurs lingering 16th in the league, it is likely to be a summer of change for Tottenham regardless of who is in the dugout.
Eze could be enticed by the prospect of being 'the man' to bring the feelgood factor back to the Lilywhites.
With their managerial situation all up in the air, it remains to be seen how Eze would fit tactically at Tottenham. Having said that, his confidence in a high press would suit Postecoglou perfectly.
🚨 Eze could depart Selhurst Park as he has two years remaining on his contract.

Newcastle United
Newcastle might not be the shiniest diamond on this list but St James' Park would perhaps be the best destination for Eze. Eddie Howe's project is in need of some creative inspiration - while Jacob Murphy has enjoyed his most productive Premier League season, the Magpies are reportedly in the market for another option in that right attacking slot.
Eze has culminated quite a partnership with Jean-Phillipe Mateta, and with Newcastle boasting one of few strikers who have outscored Palace's giant Frenchman this season, the prospect of an Eze-Alexander Isak partnership is mouthwatering - or terrifying for opposition defences.
High energy out of possession makes Eze a natural fit for Howe’s high press, while his creativity would add a spark to a Newcastle midfield that can sometimes lack invention.
Should Newcastle finish in the top five and in next season's Champions League places, a move up North would no doubt become even more tempting for Palace's star man.
Wherever Eze ends up, it’s clear he’s ready for the next step. Whether it’s Champions League football with Newcastle, becoming a centrepiece under Amorim, or a revival at Spurs, his ceiling keeps rising - and Palace’s phones are about to ring.
