Football has a much longer history in North America than it does in the US. From Canada's up-and-coming stars, Mexico's timeless legends, as well as the Caribbean producing players who have had an impact on football . Their careers, which have included World Cups and Champions League finals, have been distinguished by their talent and pride in their country's colours.
Ten of the greatest North American football players outside of the United States are highlighted in this article, although they are not listed in any particular order.
Rafael Márquez
A Mexican defensive general, captained Mexico at five World Cups and served as the backbone of Barcelona's defence during their heyday. The defender has been honoured with a hero card on the latest EA FC game!
Alphonso Davies
A contemporary superstar who is a representation of Canada's footballing ascent and whose speed and adaptability have made him essential to Bayern Munich.
Dwight Yorke
The 1999 treble-winning striker for Manchester United, from Trinidad & Tobago, became a Premier League legend thanks to his finishing. Whilst it is geographically in South America, the country plays its football in northern competitions.
Hugo Sánchez
A legendary player for Real Madrid and Mexico, and one of the most impressive goal scorers in world football in the 1980s. Although the term 'legend' gets thrown around fairly often, it is valid in this example due to the striker having an icon card on EAFC 26!
Keylor Navas
Three-time Real Madrid Champions League champion, whose exploits cemented Costa Rica's place on the football map. He also made appearances at current Champions League holders PSG, and Europa League beggars Nottingham Forest.
Cuauhtémoc Blanco
Known for his bold skill and distinct personality on the pitch, Blanco is a cult hero and creative genius representing Mexico.
Ricardo Gardner
For more than ten years, the Jamaican was a mainstay in the Premier League with Bolton, whilst also having a loan spell at Preston.
Atiba Hutchinson
Canada's long-time captain and midfield star is well-liked throughout Europe for his longevity and class. The midfielder registered over 100 caps for his national teams and enjoyed spells at Besiktas and Copenhagen.

Mexico's all-time leading scorer, who is renowned for his natural finishing touch and ability to score goals with Manchester United and other teams. He also had a huge impact on the MLS after joining the giants that are LA Galaxy.
