Gary Lineker recently announced that he would step down as Match of the Day host come the end of the season. There are plenty of exciting presenters that could be in line to get the prestigious role. Taking over from Dan Walker when he stepped down from presenting Football Focus, Alex Scott is leading the way in the race to get the MOTD gig. She has been doing that role since 2021 and has various punditry jobs to back her claim to the spot as well.

Ranked as Ladbrokes’ favourite candidate to take over, Alex Scott to become the next Match of the Day host is odds of 2/1 on both Coral and Ladbrokes . Provided a £10 stake is placed, you could see winnings of £30 if Scott gets the job.

Mark Chapman

When you turn on your T.V to watch the highlights of Sunday’s Premier League matches you’ll be met by the face of Mark Champman. Being the presenter of Match of the Day 2, getting the job to host Saturday’s edition should be an easy transition.

Kelly Cates has been with Sky Sports for around seven years now, mainly dealing with Friday Night Football. Ladbrokes and Coral are offering odds of 8/1 for Gabby Logan to become the next permanent host of Match of the Day. Provided a £10 stake is placed, you could see winnings of £90 if she gets the call from the higher ups to become the latest presenter.

Micah Richards

Often a co-presenter alongside Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, “Big Meeks” would be a great pick to be the newest MOTD host. He has excellent charisma and brings energy to his punditry work. He has been working with CBS for their UEFA Champions League Coverage for a while now and that has seen critical acclaim and loved by fans watching around the world.
