Who are the Top 3 Premier League Signings so far this Season?
We are only three games into the new Premier League season, but already there are some players who moved this summer who are looking like good value for money. Whether they have been scoring for fun, or just been incredibly dependable, we are going to look at the three players who have made excellent starts at their new clubs.
Amadou Onana joined Aston Villa from Everton this summer, which was a little surprising because many thought he’d move on to a bigger team, either in the Premier League or abroad. The deal cost Villa £50m and their midfielder Tim Iroegbunam went the other way. The deal was done early in the window, so Onana has had a full preseason with the squad, which is partly why he is performing so well compared to other signings.

In his debut, he scored after just four minutes in a 2-1 win over West Ham United. Villa only had three shots on target that game, so his clinicality was crucial in helping his side to victory. He also scored against Leicester in the third gameweek, once again netting the opener. He has provided solidity in midfield and at such a young age shows real quality on and off the ball. When the midweek Champions League games arrive, it will be a real test for him in the heart of the Aston Villa team, but so far, the signs are good.
Despite having just one win so far this season, West Ham have performed well, and Max Kilman has been a composed head at the back for the Hammers. To be fair, they have faced both Aston Villa and Manchester City so far this season. Kilman joined the London based side from Wolves this summer. The 27-year-old had played under new West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui while at Wolves, and the manager was obviously impressed enough with him to convince the West Ham board to sign him.

So far this season of all of the West Ham players, only Lucas Paqueta (170) has registered more passes than Kilman (167), but Kilman has also registered an assist. For Jarrod Bowen’s second half goal against Crystal Palace, he received the ball from Kilman via an excellent pass which cut through the Palace minefield. The English centre back also registered his first clean sheet of the season in that match.
It is pretty obvious that Newcastle United didn’t want to sell Gambian winger Yankuba Minteh this summer, but in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit regulations, they couldn’t say no when Brighton offered them £30m. Last season, while on loan at Feyenoord, Minteh scored 11 goals in 37 games, which caught the attention of many Premier League clubs. Brighton were obviously the best fit for him, with their track record with young talent, and he has hit the ground running on the south coast.
Having Yankuba Minteh & Kaoru Mitoma on either wing is a genuine cheat code for this season. 😳 pic.twitter.com/li5jEXaYKk

In Brighton’s preseason, he was the main spark and while he hasn’t scored yet in the Premier League, it is only a matter of time before he does. In his first game, he assisted Kaoru Mitoma’s goal in their 3-0 win over Everton and despite coming off early through injury, he was by far the best player on the pitch. He has started every league game for the Seagulls this season, so it is obvious that the manager trusts him.
