Who is Magui Corceiro? From Ex-Premier League Footballers to F1 World Champion

Amidst the elation and pandemonium surrounding Lando Norris’ long-awaited Formula 1 World Championship triumph, it was easy to overlook the fact that the English driver made an important announcement regarding his love life.

In attendance at the race was Magui Corceiro, who over the last couple of years has been strongly rumoured to be Norris’ primary love interest, although nothing was ever confirmed by either the driver or Corceiro.

However, in his address to the crowd upon being crowned the best driver in the world, Norris confirmed that she is his girlfriend. Naturally, social media immediately found out everything they could about her, and some interesting facts came to light.

Who is Magui Corceiro?

Born to two doctors, Margarida Matias Ferreira Corceiro is a 23-year-old Portuguese actress, influencer and model best known for her role in the Portuguese series Prisioneira, on which she made her TV debut in 2019, while she also featured on the Portuguese version of Dancing with the Stars in 2020.

Though now the partner of the best car driver on the planet, Corceiro’s relationship with Lando Norris is far from her first romance with an athlete - as early as 2019, she was rumoured to be dating former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea star Joao Felix, three years her senior.

Together for the best part of five years, their relationship encountered choppy waters when it was rumoured that Corceiro had cheated on Felix with Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro in late 2022.

Though the rumours were substantial and widely spread across social media, Corceiro and Porro consistently denied them, and, despite the allegations, the two would stay with each other until 2023.

However, controversy would strike again the next year, when Corceiro started to be seen frequently with Norris. Though rumours of their romance were consistently down-trodden, eventually it became obvious, especially when Corceiro and Felix announced that they had split up.

Since then, Corceiro has been consistently seen in and around the McClaren paddock and though it took a while for their partnership to be officially confirmed, their public display of affection confirmed their status on Sunday.

The Influencer/Athlete Cross-Over

Recently named as the most influential Portuguese Instagram influencer by Forbes Portugal this year, highlighting her reach and willingness to put herself in the public eye (if her Pedro Porro scandal hadn’t done that already), Corceiro is already a significant figure on the influencer scene despite her young age.

Her Instagram consists of images where she flaunts a privileged lifestyle, consisting of luxury yachts, photoshoots and red carpet premieres - the sort of lifestyle that matches up well with professional athletes.

We have seen footballers engage in relationships with these social media personalities before – Brazilian footballers Eder Militao and Leo Pereira have both dated Karoline Lima and Taina Castro, remarkably switching lovers over the course of the last two years, while Brazilian blogger, model and influencer Bruno Biancardi is currently expecting a second child with another Brazilian star in Neymar.

Over the years, these types of relationships have ended in messy fashion - just look at the Mauro Icardi/Maxi Lopez/Wanda Nara love triangle - and despite her young age and relatively new fame, the situation around Corceiro seems little different.

Dating fellow countryman and national heartthrob Joao Felix only to allegedly cheat on him with Porro from neighbouring Spain was big news at the time - at least it looks like she and Lando are going steady after revealing their newly confirmed couple status.

With Lando being targeted with certain … accusations of his own, this move will certainly put them to rest, and while Corceiro has shown herself to be potentially disloyal in the past, things for now at least look to be in the honeymoon phase.
