Who Will Reach The Copa del Rey Final?

With just four teams remaining, all eyes will be focused on the Copa del Rey semi-final to see which teams will book their place in the final.

Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad

Real Madrid

Real Madrid already have one foot in the final having defeated Real Sociedad 1-0 at Anoeta Stadium.

Los Blancos will have Endrick to thank for their advantage heading into the home fixture, as the Brazilian teenager scored his fourth goal of the competition in as many games.

With just one defeat in their last 13 fixtures, Real Madrid will be confident of reaching the final and securing the 21st Copa del Rey title in club history.

Carlo Ancelotti will be banking on Kylian Mbappe to keep his run of firm going against Real Sociedad.

The Frenchman has scored 33 goals in 45 appearances since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer - matching the goal scoring tally of Cristiano Ronaldo’s first season in Madrid.

Having been doubted due to a slow start to his career, Mbappe has silenced his critics and now looks set to have a key say in Real Madrid’s trophy ambitions.

Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Dani Ceballos and Ferland Mendy will be unavailable for selection with injury.

Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad will need their fortunes to change if they wish to win a fourth Copa del Rey title.

With one win in their last seven matches, Imanol Alguacil’s side are on the verge of crashing out of all remaining competitions. A lack of clinical finishing is what separated the two sides in a daily even first leg.

Real Sociedad will be looking to lean on Mikel Oyarzabal if they wish to progress to the final.

The Spanish forward has registered 12 goals and seven assists this campaign - leading Real Sociedad in both categories. In the Copa del Rey specifically he has managed to amass two goals and four assists in four starts.

When it comes to injuries, Real Sociedad have nothing to worry about as they’re expected to have a clean bill of health heading into the match.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona

One of the most exciting fixtures of the season took place at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys when both teams met for the first leg of the Copa del Rey.

An action packed 4-4 draw, saw Atletico Madrid steal a draw at the death through Alexander Sorloth in stoppage time.

Atletico Madrid

It took just one minute for Atletico Madrid to take the lead in the reverse fixture, thanks to an effort from Julian Alvarez.

The Argentine striker has scored 25 goals in 45 appearances for Atletico this season following a €95 million move from Manchester City in the summer.

Antoine Griezmann doubled the scoring just five minutes later against his former club, giving Diego Simeone’s side the perfect start to the evening.

However, Atletico Madrid were unable to maintain their lead as three unanswered goals from Barcelona saw them head into the half-time break behind.

Barcelona would add a fourth in the 74th minute through Lewandowski before Marcos Llorente and Sorloth would rescue a draw.

Atletico Madrid have managed just one win in their last seven matches, including a 4-2 loss to Barcelona in the league on the 16th March.

Despite having won ten Copa del Rey titles in their history, Atletico Madrid have failed to lift the trophy since the 2012/13 campaign.

Koke is the only player unavailable for selection as he continues to recover from a muscle injury.

Barcelona

Having not lost in their last 20 fixtures in all competitions, Barcelona are viewed as the favourites to win the competition by many analysts.

Hansi Flick’s side currently sit 1st in the La Liga standings and the highest scoring side in Europe’s top five leagues with 82 goals.

When it comes to other competition, Barcelona find themselves in a favourable position. Barca made easy work of Benfica in the round of 16 stage in the UEFA Champions League, knocking the Portuguese out with a 4-1 win on aggregate.

Barcelona have scored eight goals in their last two matches against an Atletico Madrid side known for their discipline on the defensive end.

Having gone 2-0 down early, Barcelona found themselves 4-2 up by the 72nd minute thanks to goals from Pedri, Cubarsi, Martinez and Lewandowski in the first leg.

Lewandowski has scored 38 goals in 42 appearances this season. Having won the competition a staggering 31 times, Barcelona are the most successful team to ever take part in the Copa del Rey.

Dani Olmo, Marc Casado, Andreas Christensen, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal will be unable to participate in the second leg due to injury.
