The seaside town side have priced their bid at €35 million with bonuses set to be included as tier three Football Park rated source Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports.
The Turkish man is incredibly versatile in where he can play on the pitch as he has been accredited to have played in 10 different positions over the course of his career so far. Kadıoğlu has appeared as a left back, left midfielder, left winger, right back, right midfielder, right winger, defensive midfielder, central midfielder, attacking midfielder and as a second striker. The only positions he has yet to tick off his list are centre back and goalkeeper.
He has settled into his preferred position as a left back after starting out a winger and that transition always comes with the question of can he defend? The answer is yes. During Euro 2024, per 90 minutes of football, Kadıoğlu averaged 3.60 tackles, 1.40 interceptions 1.00 blocks and 2.00 clearances. In comparison to all the other fullbacks that participated in the tournament, he was in the 92% percentile for his tackling rate. Something that didn’t go unnoticed.
It's not just defending that Kadıoğlu can do though. Due how he started his career, his is excellent at playing attacking football as well. Not just limited to Euro 2024 but across the last 365 days, he has averaged 77.54 passes attempted, 8.83 progressive passes, 5.19 progressive carries and 2.08 successful take-ons. That output has placed him in the 98% percentile or above with all four of those variables.
Brighton have struggled with injury problems at full back for the last couple of years now, especially last seaon, with Estupiñán, Lamptey, van Hecke, Webster and Veltman all players that play or filled in the position missing multiple games for the club. Kadıoğlu gives The Seagulls the cover they need but is also good enough to earn himself a spot in the starting XI immediately.
This signing could mean that the departure of one of the aforementioned players as Brighton recently brought in young Argentinian and talented left back Valentín Barco so he will most likely not be moving on. Coincidently, Barco has picked up an injury during Brighton's pre-season campaign, leaving one less person in the way of Kadıoğlu's path to starting.
Fabian Hürzeler has clearly identified a situation with the team he has inherited that could cost them in gaining a spot in the elite European places in the Premier League. Purchasing Kadıoğlu is a great solution to that problem.
Beating off the competition from Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa will be tough for Brighton but as of right now, they are the only team to officially have bid for this gem at left back.
