Everyone knows what a WAG is by now, but for a brief history lesson it means Wives and Girlfriends, normally of footballers or other athletes. This little phenomenon started back in 2006 at the World Cup, when the significant others of the England squad gathered more attention than the players themselves - hiya Posh Spice.
A lot of it came from the assumption that they were all having a bad influence on the players themselves... give over, chaps. Honestly.
But these days, the WAGs of the world are mostly famous in their own right, which is rather more uplifting. That hasn't, however, stopped them from being show-stoppers when they end up in front of the global cameras. I suppose the main one is Taylor Swift who recently married Travis Kelce of NFL fame, but I detest her music quite frankly so I'm not going there. Those last four words is what she should say everytime she think of taking her private jet to do the weekly shop. Anyway.
The WAGs of the world have been out in full force during this World Cup, so here's a little list of them.

It's fitting that one of the greatest players to have graced the game, Cristiano Ronaldo, has a partner like Georgina. Recently, she starred in a Netflix reality show and has totted up a mighty 70 million followers on Instagram. She did also seem to make the claim that she was self-made in this documentary... yeah, I don't know about that one. But fair play, success comes in a lot of ways, and a lot of 'siu's.

Neymar and Brazil got tonked out of the World Cup in pretty alarming fashion, but Biancardi is Neymar's consolation prize. Well, when he wants her to be if reports over his infidelity were to be believed.
I think it's more surprising that I'm not writing his sister's name here.

They follow each other everywhere, seem completely inseparable in public and seem like absolute soulmates. Lionel Messi's love for Rodrigo de Paul, now his Inter Miami teammate, seems to know no bounds.

Okay enough of the snide jokes - these two's relationship is wholesome as fuck.
They've been together since they were in school, having started dating in 2014 when the now-Barcelona star was just 17, and now they are married with a kid with the two having been with each other through de Jong's entire ascension from Ajax's academy to being the star prong of Barcelona's midfield offering.

Whilst the watching world (and the potentially obsessed World Cup cameramen) were fawning over the Portuguese pair in the stands of their disapponting 0-0 draw with Colombia, few had realised that one of them was Francisco Conceicao’s girlfriend.
Her name is Matilda Nieve, and I haven't got a clue which one she is - you may notice that they are identical twins.
The appearance of her and her twin sister had fans rushing onto social media to speak on them.
As one fan said: "Madre mia".

Have I lost the plot? Is this Wrestling Park all of a sudden? Well, no. But I'm a self-confessed WWE nerd and Finn Balor's (real name Fergal Devitt) wife is a famous stunner.
She is a Mexican sports journalist who gained fame for working on the Mexican branch of FOX Sports for seven years, which is around the time she met the Irish grappler. They got married in 2019 and, to keep this relevant, both were in attendance when Mexico faced England in the Round of 16, with both obviously supporting the former. Unlucky guys!
She is just about perfect but, sadly, she is an Arsenal fan.
