It’s the transfer window and normally you see batshit crazy transfers. We’ve already seen some with the likes of Rogers to Chelsea and Anderson to City. However, they might have been beaten somehow. Is it the transfer value? No. Is it a super star signing? No.

So what is it? It’s none other than a swap deal between Dwight NcNeil and Brennan Johnson. Wait, let me check that again, yep, that’s it. What have these clubs been smoking?

Everton have managed to get rid of a player who played 22 matches last season picking up 1100 minutes while scoring 0 goals. Normally, this would have been an achievement. However, they have managed to make it look like a bad deal.

Everton basically got rid of a dull knife and got a new dull knife. Johnson played 34 matches with 1700 minutes scoring 2 goals. Wait, those 2 goals didn’t even come with Palace. He played 26 matches with Palace in all competitions and didn’t score a goal. However, this still is a better deal than Palace got. At least Johnson has had strong seasons in his past scoring over 10 goals.

Palace, Palace, Palace. It hasn’t been your summer has it. First you lost your gaffer, then your best defender. Now you’re losing a winger you signed 6 months ago and you’re replacing him with a player who has scored 15 goals in his last 3 seasons. Even failing to score 1 last season.

What was going through your mind to accept this. He is a year older and hasn’t had a staple season. Nothing to prove that he should be signing for another solid Prem side. It just doesn’t make sense at all and I’m not sure it ever will.

We might be proved wrong though. What’s the saying, one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure?

Maybe that becomes true in this case. However, for now, this seems like an awful deal for both sides.
