50 Million Sterling Linked With Shock Move Across London

13/06/24 18:53

As reported by TBR, which Football Park ranks as tier 3 for reliability, West Ham is considering a bid for Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling.

Chelsea are thought to be interested in moving the English winger on this summer, as it would help raise some funds for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

Sky Sports broke the news today that Chelsea have approached the French forward. The Blues will be hoping to recoup most of the £50 million fee they paid Manchester City in 2022.

Is Sterling even interested in a move?

If West Ham secures a move for Raheem, it would be seen as a major coup given that the forward, at 29 should be only entering his prime.

The English international still has three years remaining on his existing contract, so he would most likely have to take a pay cut from his current salary, which is £325,000 per week. West Ham’s current highest earner is Lucas Paqueta, who earns £150,000.

Sterling may believe giving his record in the Premier League, which is a respectful 123 goals in 379 appearances, that he should move to a team fighting for titles, whether that be in England or abroad.

This summer is sure to be a big one for Chelsea, with the owners replacing Mauricio Pochettino with Leicester boss Enzo Maresca.

The new manager will be hoping any fee raised by Sterling’s sale can help Chelsea bring in some big signings to assist them in finishing higher than last season's place of 6th.
