A Super fan Just Changed His Name to "Dorking Wanderers" and it Might be the Greatest Thing Ever

If you are reading this, you more than likely are a fan of a football club. That might be one of the Premier League's giants or a club lower down the English football pyramid. However, no matter who you support, you probably believe you’re a good fan towards your club. Match-going, watching every game, maybe even owning some of the kits. However, are you as dedicated as this man?

Dorking Wanderers might have the single greatest fan to have ever lived, and his dedication to the club needs to be studied.

We all remember when Marc Cucurella said that if Spain won the World Cup, he would get a tattoo of Luis de la Fuente on his body. Well, this fan matched that, and it didn’t take a World Cup victory for him to do that.

Keith Thripp got a tattoo of manager Marc White on his leg a year ago and then, only a few weeks ago, was able to meet the man. The manager would see the tattoo and sign underneath it in a marker. So, what did the 64-year-old do after that? Isn’t it obvious? He went straight to the tattoo parlour and got the signature tattooed underneath his face.

Somehow, it gets even more mental. The Dorking Wanderers fan, who was formerly known as Keith Thripp, no longer goes by that name. The name he has picked might make him the only person in the world with that name. It is a 1-in-8-billion name.

That name? Dorking Wanderers. Yes, we aren’t kidding. His name is now dedicated to the club he has spent his life supporting. He woke up and decided that a tattoo of the manager wasn’t enough. The merchandise wasn’t enough, no; he needed to prove that he was a die-hard fan.

There might be nothing that will ever beat this single act from a fan. We have seen fans who are covered from head to toe in kits and flags. We have seen fans with tattoos of the club’s badge and sometimes even the owner. Those with a penchant for Lincoln City news might know of Noel Harris, the Imps fan who has been attending every match for 70 years. However, we haven’t seen someone change their legal name to the name of the club.

But this is a different level of dedication. In fact, the club was so taken aback by this single act that they have given him a lifetime contract. That might be the least that he deserves. This dedication needs to be studied.

Will we see any other fans follow him down the route of changing their names? And no, it doesn’t count if your name is Chelsea.

So, next time you think you are the greatest fan in the world, or you think your club has the best fans, just remember: a fan was so dedicated that he changed his legal name to that of his club as a sign of dedication and loyalty.
