Aberdeen are close to securing Scottish free agent defender Tom McIntyre according to The Daily Record
McIntyre’s two-year deal at Portsmouth was set to expire in the Summer, however the defender has left Fratton Park without playing in the first team squad. McIntyre suffered a broken left ankle and a red card on his debut against Northampton Town FC and, although that dismissal was later rescinded upon appeal, his Pompey career never hit the heights that some had expected.
Tom joined Bradford on a season-long loan in September; however, the League One club cancelled the short deal at the halfway mark, and he returned to his parent club in the middle of January. McIntyre has only made 14 appearances in his 2 years at Portsmouth and hasn’t had a first team appearance for the club in over 12 months.
Aberdeen want the defender in to help strengthen a weak looking defence with only Liam Morrison available for Wednesday’s big clash vs Celtic. Jack Milne is suspended for the game and Mats Knoester is out after suffering an injury in the Kilmarnock game.
