Aberdeen are close to securing the signing of Kaiserslautern’s Nigerian defensive midfielder Afeez Aremu according to The Daily Record
It is believed Aberdeen have beaten competition from Israel, Poland and Turkey, to secure the 26-year-olds signature. Afeez only has 6 months left on his contract at 2. Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern and is in search of proper minutes after only appearing for the German side eight times in all competitions, making just five starts.
Aberdeen are set to pay a fee in the region of £250,000 for Aremu and he would become the Fifth January signing following Scottish midfielder Lyall Cameron, fellow Scotsman centre-back Liam Morrison, striker Toyosi Olusanya and goalkeeper Per Kristian Bratveit.
If a deal for Afeez Aremu is agreed and completed he would become the fifth Nigerian to play for the Dons following Peter Ambrose, Sone Aluko, Chidieberi Nwakali and Danny Uchechi.
