Egypt's record Egyptian Premier League champions Al-Ahly are interested in signing Motherwell striker Tawanda Maswanhise during the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to Yalla Koura's Karim Rizkallah, Maswanhise is a candidate to join the club this summer with Motherwell looking for a fee of up to $4m (around £3m) for the Zimbabwe international striker.

According to the report the issue of Maswanhise's salary and personal terms is expected to not be an issue over a potential deal but Motherwell's asking price could provide Al-Ahly a problem.

Goalscoring has been an issue for Al-Ahly this season in the Egyptian Premier League with left sided winger Mahmoud Trezeguet currently the club's top scorer in the league with nine goals and fellow wingers Achraf Bencharki and Zizo both scoring five goals.

Al-Ahly are likely to be amongst a number of clubs looking for Maswanhise's signature in the summer after his impressive performances in the William Hill Premiership this season where he has 17 goals in 32 appearances for the Steelmen this season and has been named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Season and was one of four finalists for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award.

Belgian side Anderlecht had interest in the striker in the January window, with the club reportly bidding for his services on deadline day, but failed to materialise. Celtic have also been watching the Motherwell striker this season, as have a number of clubs from the Sky Bet Championship.

Time is running out if Motherwell would be willing to sell the striker for a fee as his contract comes to an end in the summer of 2027.
