Alex Jimenez Dropped by Bournemouth Amidst Investigation over 'Messages to 15-Year-Old Girl'

AFC Bournemouth have dropped defender Alex Jimenez from their matchday squad for tomorrow, with the club launching an investigation over alleged messages sent by the Spaniard to a minor.

The club released a statement confirming that they "understand the seriousness of the matter" after images of the alleged exchange began to do the rounds on social media last night.

As a result, the 21-year-old has been dropped and will not play a part in the Cherries' away trip against Fulham tomorrow afternoon.

Jimenez Faces Bournemouth Investigation

Screenshots were shared on social media of the Spain U21 international apparently talking to a girl aged under 18, with texts including confirmations of Jimenez's understanding of the girl's age and also a photo of himself from his car featuring a suggestive caption.

The Cherries said in a statement: “AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back, Alex Jimenez.

“The club understand the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated.

“As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham and the club will be making no further comment at this time.”

The £15m defender has been a breakout star for Bournemouth this season with the club potentially qualifying for Europe for the first time in their history this season.

They are due to purchase him permanently in the summer after a buy clause in his loan terms from AC Milan was triggered earlier this year.

His career began with local side Talavera as a youth before he joined Real Madrid in 2012 and attracted interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

He was sent on loan to Milan in 2023 before making the move permanent, and was then loaned again to Bournemouth at the start of this season with the Cherries excercising their obligation to buy the defender permanently.

Jimenez has made 32 appearances for Bournemouth this season, scoring one goal.
