Arsenal and Manchester City look set to go head to head in the transfer market yet again this summer as both teams eye up Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães.

Since joining in 2022, Guimarães has been a key part of Newcastle’s success. His performances making him a key target for some of the biggest clubs around Europe. Especially within England, with Arsenal and Man City both looking to strengthen in the summer.

It has previously been reported that the Brazilian international has a release clause of £100 million in his contract which both clubs could pay.

The Magpies will be eager to keep their midfield maestro, however, we would expect them to be open to the idea of letting him go if financial issues get in the way of potential incomings. Their financial situation could force them to sell - especially if the money is right.

Uncertainty surrounding the future of Thomas Partey (thanks to countless injuries recently) and Jorginho (whose contract is expiring soon) place Arsenal as the favourites to sign Guimarães.

That being said, the Citizens are always eager to improve and with the money they have to spend I’m sure they wouldn’t refuse the signing, of one of the league's top midfielders, in order to improve from their already strong squad.

The two clubs battled for Declan Rice last season with Arsenal coming out on top in that race. But who will be the club that snatches Guimarães this summer?
