Arsenal Chasing Deal for Premier League Star
As per Purple Panel, Arsenal have reignited their interest in Amadou Onana.

The Belgian has been a key player for Everton since signing from Lille in 2022. Arsenal were actually interested in bringing Onana to North London back in January, but couldn’t get a deal over the line.
Onana has a towering physique at 6 '4”, and this stature gives him a unique and physical profile that assists him in his tenacious ball-winning style. For this reason, he’d make a great partner to the athletic Declan Rice in midfield.
Onana is contracted to Everton until the end of the 2026/27 season, so Arsenal will have to pay big to secure what Arteta must believe to be an important signing. The Gunners have made it clear a defensive midfielder is in their transfer plans over this window, after showing interest in Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes.
Athletic reporter, David Ornstein, has also been reporting on the situation. He claims the clubs have made contact over the fee that would need to be exchanged for Onana, but the clubs hold a difference in valuation.
🚨 EXCL: Arsenal in negotiations with Everton to sign Amadou Onana. #EFC want ~£40m. Gap in valuations but talks ongoing. Competition from Man Utd (Spurs + Bayern admire too) but European football puts #AFC in driving seat @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/MkxxzLJJTI

Given Everton are likely to need to raise funds this summer, to avoid further FFP charges this year, it’s likely a deal can be negotiated between the clubs. However, it’s also unlikely that Onana will be able to agree terms until his EURO 2024 campaign with Belgium comes to halt.
