Arsenal Give The Go-Ahead For Sevilla To Sign Sambi Lokonga

03/07/24 13:38

Albert Sambi Lokonga looks set to join Sevilla this summer.

The midfielder spent the 23/24 season on loan with Luton, where the player made 17 appearances for the club.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, who Football Park ranks as tier 1 for reliability, all parties are keen to make the move happen. The deal will likely be a loan with an option to buy.

The two clubs will now negotiate the deal, with the terms of the loan still to be decided. If all goes as planned, Sambi-Lokonga will play his football for Sevilla next season.

What type of player will Sevilla be signing?

Arsenal signed the Belgian in 2021 after the player impressed in the Jupitar Pro League for Anderlecht.

He made 25 appearances for the Gunners in his first two seasons with the club, before spending time on loan with Crystal Palace and most recently Luton Town.

Sambi Lokonga is an all-action midfielder who likes to get around the pitch. He can easily adapt to play as a holding midfielder or a box-to-box. He has similarities with Ngolo Kante, as he likes to make high-energy runs and isn't afraid to make a tackle.

The Belgian has also filled in at right midfield when needed and given the fact that the player is only 24 years old, the signing could turn out to be one of the bargains of the summer.
