Arsenal Starlet Looking Set For Munich

Bayern Munich are in advanced talks to sign Arsenal youngster Chidozie Obi-Martin.

The Danish striker scored a record-breaking 32 goals in 18 appearances during the 2023/24 U18s Premier League campaign.

However, after rejecting Arsenal’s most recent scholarship offer, he looks set to leave the club for free this summer.

The journey so far

The 16-year-old joined Arsenal from FC Kobenhavn in 2022 having impressed Gunners scouts whilst playing in Denmark.

In his first season playing for the club’s Under-18s side, the striker struggled to find a place in the team, playing just two games throughout the whole season.

Despite this, Obi-Martin played regularly for the Danish Under-16s, making eight appearances for his country during the 2022/23 season.

The striker would have been hoping for a better start to his youth career at Arsenal, however he still showed a lot of promise at only 15 years of age.

It was in the 2023/24 season where Obi-Martin showed the abundance of potential that he possessed. Although it took the striker until late February to nail down a place in the starting line-up, he scored a miraculous 29 goals from that point onwards in just eleven matches.

His fine form saw him rewarded with both appearances for the club’s Under-21s side, and his first caps for Denmark’s Under-17s. The striker has since scored ten goals in just 14 appearances for the side and played in this summer’s U17s European Championships.

Possible destinations?

As reported, German powerhouse Bayern Munich are the overwhelming favourites to secure Obi-Martin’s signature.

The Bavarian side look the most likely to meet the player’s financial demands, however there are many other clubs also fighting for his signature. Bayern’s German rivals Borussia Dortmund as well as a host of Premier League clubs are interested in acquiring the 16-year-old’s services.

Signing a fresh deal with the Gunners has not been ruled out just yet, but it now looks like there is a significant chance that the player leaves the club this summer.
