Arsenal wonderkid scores SEVEN goals in 64 minutes

16-year-old Arsenal sensation Chido Obi-Martin scored an astonishing seven goals in 64 minutes against Norwich City Under-18s on Saturday afternoon just two weeks after scoring five goals against West Ham Under-18s.

The teenage prodigy has scored 28 goals in 16 games for Jack Wilshere’s Arsenal Under-18s side this season - equating to a goal every 45 minutes. Obi-Martin has now scored four or more goals in a game on four occasions this season and has broken Folarin Balogun’s record (25 goals) for most goals scored in a season for Arsenal Under-18s.

Earlier in the season, Obi-Martin scored an incredible 10 goals for Arsenal Under-16s against Liverpool Under-16s in a 14-3 win. The forward’s goal scoring exploits led to him being fast tracked into the Arsenal Under-18s side as a regular starter at just 15 years-old and given his current trajectory, it seems highly likely that he’ll be leading the line for the Arsenal Under-21s side next season at just 16 years of age.

Obi-Martin, who stands at 6 foot 2 inches, currently represents Denmark at international youth level but is also eligible to represent England and Nigeria. He was born in Denmark and played for Danish giants FC Copenhagen at youth level before signing for Arsenal aged 13.

The striker has reportedly garnered interest from several top clubs around Europe including Borussia Dortmund and Ajax who both have an excellent track record of developing young talent. But Arsenal reportedly view Obi-Martin as an important piece of their future and are already putting plans in place to offer him his first professional contract when he turns 17 in November.

It’s safe to say that Arsenal have an extremely exciting gem on their hands.
