As reported recently Arsenal would be looking to see if they would be able to add another midfielder to their team after an injury to Spanish international Mikel Merino happened that would keep him sidelined for an extended period of time.
It has been rumoured by ArsenalInsider on X that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be the man that is bought in as a short-term replacement in the midfield. With one of the main factors being that the free agent was seen training at Arsenal.

The 32-year-old has been a free agent for 6 months now after leaving Besiktas in the summer with his contract expiring.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is someone Arsenal fans have a fond connection with after he spent 7 years at the club before leaving for Liverpool. However, could we see him make a return for the final few months of the season to help Arsenal win the Premier League.
While he hasn’t played any football in recent months, he has still been able to pick up a good number of minutes in recent years having played 50 games for Besiktas after joining in the 2023/24 season. It isn’t out of the question for him as he has been at the training ground recently and even manager Mikel Arteta hasn’t ruled out the chance of him joining the club in this window.
Elsewhere in Arsenal, they have been looking at other options with one being a shocking move for Newcastle’s brilliant Sandro Tonali as they look to bolster their midfield for the final stretch for the league title.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be a different type of signing for Arsenal as it would be someone who they look to have a short but powerful impact on the club. He wouldn’t fit their normal style of signing building for the project. However, with his previous experience at the club and his experience in the league, it does seem like a possible signing.
