Aston Villa set to Sign Arsenal Target

According to David Ornstein, who Football Park rate as a tier one source, Aston Villa are progressing in a move for Amadou Onana.

Onana, who currently plays for Everton, has impressed in midfield for the Toffees over the last two seasons.

Villa, as they look to replace Douglas Luiz after he departed for Juventus, are currently finalising an agreement with Everton for the Belgian midfielder. Reports state that the deal will be worth around £50 million.

Personal terms are all but agreed between the player and Villa, and aren’t expected to be an issue as the move progresses. Onana is keen to play under Unai Emery and for Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old signed for Everton in 2022 for €35 million, and has made 72 appearances for the Merseyside club since.

Arsenal were interested in Onana earlier in the summer, who would slot nicely into a midfield with Rice and Odegaard, but appear to have missed out on what would’ve been a key signing for the Gunners. There was also reports of interest from Bayern Munich, which have since fizzled out now that they’ve secured Joao Palhinha’s services.
