Austrian Bundesliga Champions Keen on Loan Deal for Sheffield United Striker

Sturm Graz are interested in a loan move for Blades youngster Ryan Oné according to Daily Record Sport The reigning champions of the Austrian Bundesliga are hoping to acquire the services of the 19-year-old before the end of the window.

The Scottish striker has made one start this season which came in the first round of the EFL cup, with all the games in the league seeing him come off the bench. It was a strong pre-season for the teen, so it may have come as a surprise to many that he's struggled for game time so far this season and it might be beneficial for the player to go on loan for the campaign.

Ryan Oné signed for Sheffield United in the summer of 2023 from Hamilton Academical and has made 16 league appearances so far. Oné can be used as a central striker or off either flank so versatility is one of his best assets.

Making his debut off the bench against Arsenal at the Emirates stadium in October 2023 Oné endured a difficult start to his life in Yorkshire being on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline.

Sturm Graz Used to the British Market

Sturm Graz are no rookies when it comes to doing business with English clubs, having signed the Brighton duo on loan last season, Kjell Scherpen and Malick Yalcouye, with Scherpen joining for a second season with Die Schwoazn winning goalkeeper of the year in the latter and Yalcouye being named in the team of the season. This suggests that Strum Graz is a place where young players can grow and show their talent.

Europa League football awaits the Austrian side this season after missing out in the UEFA Champions League qualification to Bodø/Glimt 2-6 on aggregate on Tuesday. A chance for Oné to impress on the big stage perhaps, and a first taste of top level european football. As league champions for the last two seasons, expectation would be high for Oné if he was to make the switch abroad.

In last seasons Champions League they lost 6 out of their 8 group games, however managed to beat Leipzig at home in their standout result. They'll be looking to better that by getting out the group in their first season back in the Europa League for two years.

Oné for the Future

Oné may be seen as a long-term project at Bramall Lane who will be an important player in years to come. A new chapter might suit the striker, giving him guaranteed minutes on the pitch. He'll also be surrounded by a team full of winners albeit not in Europe's top leagues, but it could benefit his development working in this environment.

He'll be looking to his father Armand for advice who also was a striker, playing predominantly for teams in Scotland as well as making 32 caps for Cambridge United. Ryan will now be hoping that wherever he plays his football next season that he can make an impact and create his own history.
