Best Under 21 Players This English Football Weekend
We are another gameweek down in England and once again multiple young stars proved their importance across the divisions.
Let’s have a look at the eleven best under 21 players this week.
Goodman takes the spot for the best under 21 goalkeeper this week.
The 20 year old would keep an impressive clean sheet in Wimbledon’s 1-0 win against Cheltenham this weekend and Goodman had a starring role.
Not only did he pick up a clean sheet but he made 4 impressive saves during the game. 1 of which in particular was almost destined to hit the back of the net. His calmness in the Dons net was much like a Championship player in this game. A fantastic performance.
Brighton’s up and coming left back Jack Hinshelwood started just his second Brighton game this weekend and was massively impressive.
Although this wasn’t his best performance, we know he can offer a lot more than he did, Hinshelwood was superb defensively covering well. This as well as providing an attacking threat for the seagulls as well.
Jack Hinshelwood massively impressing me once again, seems like every time I watch Brighton he grabs my attention.

Incredible engine on the boy, one of the best utility players in the league right now - great cover at RB/LB/CM/RM through his super high energy levels. pic.twitter.com/pPXpEjGmyH
This week not only does Roughan make our League One team of the week (which you can check out here) but he also makes our best under 21 eleven as well.
Roughan scored during Lincoln’s 4-1 thrashing of Mansfield as well as providing a good assist as well. For a centre back this is particularly impressive earning him a spot in this team as well.
Crewe haven’t had the best start to the League Two season thus far but one player that has been particularly impressive, especially this weekend, is centre half Knight-Lebel.
Knight-Lebel was a part of Crewe’s defence during their 0-0 draw against Swindon Town and did a fantastic job keeping a clean sheet in the game.
He had a particularly impressive few games with his parent club Bristol City last season so if he can keep up his form at Crewe this year he could be in for an exciting future.
Chelsea ran rampant at Wolves on Sunday afternoon and Gusto was a key part of the side in the game.
His attacking output was impressive but it was his defensive capabilities that stood out in this game making 5 critical interceptions and tackles. He certainly played very well.
Mundle is another player that made our league specific team of the week this year earning a spot in the Championship team (which can be found here). Of course his top performance also earns him a spot in this team as well.
Mundle was brought in as a Jack Clarke replacement following his move to Ipswich Town this weekend and proved that Sunderland may not need to bring in a replacement afterall.
A fantastic goal against Burnley earned the Black Cats a 1-0 victory and he proved a constant threat to the Burnley back line. A top performance and we are sure there is a lot more to come from the 21 year old

Another player included in our Championship Team of the Week was Sheffield United’s Ollie Arblaster after what was a superb performance against Norwich City.
Arblaster played very well in Sheffield United’s 1-1 draw and even popped up with a goal himself. His good play in midfield earned the Blades a valuable draw in this one.
It really was a week for under 21s this weekend with Humphreys joining this team as well as our League One Team of the Week.
Humphreys made his debut this weekend coming off the bench in Wycombe’s 2-0 win against Rotherham and he showed exactly why he was brought in on loan from Ipswich Town.
He scored a great goal and proved effective with multiple long passes and through balls. If he can continue as he started he could be in for a great season with Wycombe this year.
Fellows also made our Championship Team of the Week and with good reason.
Fellows proved he is one of the most creative players in this West Brom side as well as one of the quickest as he provided 2 assists in their 2-1 win over Stoke City this week.

N’Mai came on for Salford City with just 13 minutes left to play which may have you questioning his involvement in this squad.
However, he scored late for Salford to equalise against Chesterfield - who are certainly a stronger side than Salford. This goal earned his side a valuable point which could be crucial in the latter stages of the season.
This 20 year old is certainly an exciting talent so it will be good to see what more he can offer going forward.
The final player in this squad and another that impressed us so much he earned a place in the Championship Team of the Week as well. Joseph had an incredible game this weekend.
In Leeds’ 2-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night Joseph shone picking up assists for both goals. 1 of which was simply sensational - a 40m through pass on the ground for Daniel James to run on to.
His performance was key to Leeds United picking up their first 3 points of the season and if he can continue playing like he did he could be key to a Leeds promotion push this year.
