Birmingham City have approached Leeds United regarding a potential loan move to St. Andrew’s, reports Michael Bleach.
The ambitious deal would see the Italian international play Championship football until the end of the season. Gnonto has played 467 minutes of football for Leeds this season, culminating in just five starts.
The ex-Inter Milan man made 79 EFL Championship appearances across the 2023/24 and 2024/25 campaigns, scoring 17 goals, typically from the wing.
The Blues, who are unbeaten in six, sit 13th in the second-tier standings, five points outside of the play-offs. Birmingham have already seen five new signings through the door this January, including Carlos Vicente, Ibrahim Osman, Kai Wagner, and August Priske.
Gnonto would face healthy competition from a stacked list of forwards at the club, including Demarai Gray, Patrick Roberts, Jay Stansfield, Scott Wright, Kyogo Furuhashi, as well as the aforementioned Vicente and Osman.

The Italian is still only 22 years of age, boasting plenty of experience for an individual far from his prime. He would join a list of signings the Blues have made from the Premier League since their promotion from League One, alongside Tommy Doyle and Brighton trio, Osman, James Beadle, and Eiran Cashin.
His last appearance for his nation was back in 2023; however, he has still been cited as one of Italy’s biggest young stars. Gnonto will be desperate to get back out playing football, whether that be on the right or left wing.
