Birmingham Push to Make Patrick Roberts Loan Permanent

On loan at Championship side Birmingham City from Premier League side Sunderland, Patrick Roberts has impressed and become one of the Blues most important players this season.

The former Manchester City player joined on loan last September, and has since has missed just one game.

The English winger has played 27 times for Birmingham, scoring thrice and assisting four times—two of which came in a 3-2 win against Coventry City, which was The Sky Blues' fourth defeat of the season.

Can Birmingham Seal the Deal?

With just four hours left of the winter window, Birmingham has little time to make the move permanent.

The club currently sits 13th in the Championship but is only five points behind fellow promoted side Wrexham, who occupy a play-off spot.

Roberts' loan runs until the end of the season, so regardless of what happens throughout the rest of today, he will remain a Birmingham player until the summer.

In response to fans calling for the permanent signing of Roberts, manager Chris Davies said, “We are looking at that.

“I know those conversations are taking place, and we are hopeful, but there are a few parts of that that have to work. That would be ideal.”
