Blackburn Rovers In Talks to Sign League One Record Breaker

Blackburn Rovers are supposedly in talks to sign Taylor Gardner-Hickman on loan from Birmingham City, as reported by Alan Nixon.

The versatile man who can play in either the back line or in midfield was part of Birmingham City’s EFL record-points winning side last season, making 33 League One appearances under Chris Davies’ management. But with an influx of wealthy signings heading to the West Midlands, Gardner-Hickman may be seeking game time elsewhere.

Pushed Out of the Birmingham Team?

The 23-year-old has played just one minute of football across Birmingham’s four Championship matches so far, after the Blues spent big money on defender Bright Osayi-Samuel in the summer.

Gardner-Hickman played predominantly at right-back or on either wing for Birmingham last season, as he contributed to their title-winning promotion with three goals and two assists.

At his young age, the West Brom academy graduate already has a wealth of experience at Championship level, after having played over 85 games in the second tier across both the Baggies and Bristol City.

He could be the perfect fit for Blackburn Rovers, especially now another defender in Dominic Hyam could be heading out the door. Should the loan move be completed, it is said that there would be an option-to-buy clause in the contract, which would work as a good deal for both parties.
