Brighton and Cozier-Duberry In Contract Discussions

In a move that further underscores Brighton’s desire to keep hold of and develop some of the world's most exciting young footballers, the Seagulls have entered into contract extension talks with Amario Cozier-Duberry, who is on loan at Bolton Wanderers in League One.

The attacker, who can play on both wings as well as centrally, has had a breakthrough season in England’s third tier, netting nine goals and nine assists for the Trotters, form that has taken them to the brink of securing a play-off spot with a game to spare.

The former Arsenal youngster has been touted as one for the future for a number of years, with his name doing the rounds on social media even when he was in the U16s, and this season he has started to deliver on that promise.

Winning both the player of the month and young player of the month back in October, the 20-year-old has just kept getting better throughout the season, and his efforts were rewarded two weeks ago when he was officially named as League One Young Player of the Season, taking over from QPR’s Richard Kone, who won the award last season.

He has become something of a familiar name at Football Park too, as the electric youngster has appeared countless times in our Wednesday Wonderkids series – he has, in truth, become something of a perennial inclusion, simply too good to leave out despite his name arguably becoming too mainstream.

The levels he has been able to produce at the Reebok Stadium become even more impressive when it is considered that last season at Championship side Blackburn Rovers, Cozier-Duberry managed just one goal in 22 games.

It appears the drop down the divisions has weighed heavily in the 20-year-old's favour, and now, with Brighton once again looking for a new influx of young talent ahead of the 2026/27 season, the former Arsenal talent seems like the latest prospect set to be thrown in at the Premier League deep end.

Though he has never made a Premier League appearance, Cozier-Duberry has illustrated that he is more than ready to play senior football at the top end of the spectrum, and with contract talks now going ahead, no one should be surprised to hear his name more and more as the new season approaches.
