Bristol City striker Sinclair Armstrong to Leave On Loan

Bristol City's Sinclair Armstrong is set to leave the Robins on a deadline day loan move.

The 22-year-old is the subject of numerous inquiries from fellow Championship and League One clubs.

Armstrong has made three substitute appearances in the second tier this season.

Armstrong's Qualities

The Irishman has great power and bags of pace to play on the last shoulder of the defence.

Ahead of joining Bristol last season, then manager Liam Manning said "If you look at last year, we have some really good attacking quality, but what I didn't feel we had was that power and raw pace. He's definitely got that in abundance.

Quote "He's outstanding physically, a top character as well. He's someone who has got extremely high potential. It's his job, and our job, to turn that into consistency and ultimately goals."

However, that consistency has gone missing once more at Ashton Gate, with only three goals in 36 Championship matches and 1557 minutes of football.

This followed a similar pattern to the prior year at Queens Park Rangers, where his three goals and three assists in 39 games ultimately weren't enough for the R's to keep him on.

In fact, he never has been a prolific forward and his best goal scoring run came back in 2021/22 with Aldershot Town in the National League, as he scored two in three for the Shots.

He failed to find the net at all in 2022/23 despite being fielded in the Championship, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Clearly there is a player in there, one that has been capped at first-team level for Ireland before, he just needs a move and a lucky break elsewhere which potentially will need to be at a level lower.

The Robins are sanctioning a loan deal in the hopes he does well and can then make more money, as QPR have a 20% sell-on clause in his next transfer.

Bristol Likely to Lose Stalwart Defender

In other Robins news, Zak Vyner looks like he could be on his way out of Ashton Gate after being with the club since his youth days in 2004.

The 29-year-old has rejected offers to extend his contract, meaning he could walk for free at the end of the season, unless a sale is sanctioned today.

Wrexham have tabled a £2.5m bid, up from the £2m they tabled a few days ago as Bristol have increased their asking price in an aim to extract as much cash as possible for one of their longest-ever servants.
