Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Jonas Omlin’s loan move to the Foxes is off, reveals Florian Plettenberg.
Leicester City contacted the Bundesliga side last Wednesday in an attempt to replace Mads Hermansen. Plettenberg also reported that BMG would not allow Omlin to leave unless a replacement was found, and a buy-clause was included in the loan deal.

The German side have seemingly failed to find a fit replacement, and third choice, 19-year-old youngster, Tiago Pereira Cardoso, has been deemed unready to take on the back-up role.
This sudden shift in negotiations throws a spanner in the works for Leicester’s director of football, Jon Rudkin, as well as first-team coach Marti Cifuentes. The Swiss was set to slot straight into the starting eleven, instantly becoming one of the top keepers in the league.
Omlin is the second choice at Monchengladbach behind newcomer Moritz Nicolas. Aged 31, the former Swiss international has extensive experience in the French and German top flight, with over 60 career clean sheets to his name. What's more, the player has lost his captaincy at the club, with Tim Kleindienst given the armband off the back of his 16-goal Bundesliga campaign.

With Daniel Iversen and Danny Ward also out of the door, the goalkeeper position at the King Power required vital attention. Jakub Stolarczyk has proved himself useful at the Championship level in Leicester’s opening four fixtures; however, the Foxes evidently believed the goalkeeping spot could still be improved.
Now that Omlin’s deal is off the cards, Leicester have a matter of hours to find a new keeper. A realistic outcome will be that the Foxes settle with Stolarczyk and backup keeper, Asmir Begovic.
Omlin will stay in Western Germany, with his role in the first-team set-up valued too highly to allow his departure.
