Can Tottenham hand Arsenal the title?

13/05/24 05:57

Tottenham play host to Manchester City on Tuesday night as The Blues play their game in hand which can see them take the advantage over title contenders, Arsenal, going into the final day of the season this Sunday.

Arsenal’s 1-0 at Old Trafford will see the title decider go down to the very last day of the season as Arsenal will be praying for the reigning champions to slip up against West Ham.

As for Spurs, they will be hoping to get a result against Man City as their Champions League hopes are still alive, sitting only 4 points behind Aston Villa. A result against City will also give the home side something massiver to play for going into the final day on Sunday.

Manchester City had yet another comfortable victory, this time over Fulham in a 4-0 victory which saw Gvardiol add to his goal tally for the season. A game that almost saw the Croatian become the first defender in Premier League history to score a hat trick.

Foden added to his goal tally as he is having his best season so far in a City shirt and a late penalty scored by Alvarez, that was almost the chance for Gvardiol to complete a hat trick.

Tottenham’s game however, would have had fans on the edge of their seats for the majority of the fixture. Burnley took the lead in the 25th minute but a quick turn around only 5 minutes later saw the game level. An 82nd minute winner from Micky Van De Ven secured Spurs all three points and kept their Champions League hopes alive and as a result confirmed the relegation of Burnley to the Championship.

Team News:

Spurs will be without the likes of Udogie and Werner and will be without them for the rest of the season.

Richarlison is an additional name to the injury list as the Brazilian sat out against Burnley and will most likely sit out against Man City due to a calf injury.

As a result, it is likely that Spurs will go with an identical line up as to the one that they started against Burnley with.

Manchester City will be without Jack Grealish as he is recovering from an illness. Nathan Ake is the only other player on City’s injury list as the defender was substituted off early in the fixture against Fulham. However, Ake is not ruled out against Spurs and may feature.

With only three more games left this season for City, including the FA Cup final, it is expected that they will be playing at full strength to ensure that they can secure the League title and the Cup.

Predictions:

Despite City struggling against Spurs at their new stadium and only winning once, it is that time of the season where they are simply unstoppable.

Both teams have something to play for but “it means more” to City.

My Predictions will always be biassed towards my own club but you can never underestimate Spurs when they play against City.

My prediction is Tottenham 1-2 Manchester City.
