Celtic Begin New Season Plans With Extensions for Trio

Celtic announce new contracts for experienced trio

As the Scottish Premiership's thrilling title race is drawing ever nearing to it's conclusion, Celtic have announced the contract extensions of three players who are now officially signed up for the 2026/27 campaign.

The first of which was announced on Thursday as Celtic's most decorated player, in their history, James Forrest signed a contract extension for another season.

The 34-year-old is ready to go again for another season with the club, which will take his overall spell to twenty-five years at Celtic as he first joined the club's coaching school in Hamilton back in 2002.

In his senior career with Celtic; Forrest has won 26 major honours with the club, including winning the Premiership title 13 times since first league title win in 2012. In total Forrest has featured over 560 times for the club, in all competitions, scoring 110 goals.

Liam Scales has signed a two year contract extension, which will take the Republic of Ireland's contract to the summer of 2030.

The 27-year-old, signed from Shamrock Rovers in August 2021, has made over 140 appearances for the club and scored 7 goals and has won six major honours at Celtic, including the Premiership three times.

Boyhood Celtic supporter Luke McCowan is the last of the trio to sign a contract extension which should take him until the summer of 2028.

The 28-year-old signed for Celtic from Dundee in August 2024 on a three-year-contract and has made over 80 appearances in his two seasons with the club, scoring 11 goals in the process.

McCowan's only honour with Celtic is the Premiership title won last season.
