Chamberlain has been training with Arsenal recently as he looks to get a move, and the current champions of Scotland are keen on bringing the English midfielder to Parkhead.

The fact that he is still a free agent means there is not pressure for Celtic officials to meet the 11pm deadline, however Sky Sports also noted that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has refused to rule out signing the 32 year old, as his experience could be a worthy addition to the Gunner's midfield with Mikel Merino ruled out for the long term.

Chamberlain made 36 appearances for Southampton before signing for Arsenal in 2011, he would go on to make 132 appearances for the North London side, before moving to Anfield in 2017 where he would become a Champions League winner in 2019 and a Premier League winner in 2020 under Jurgen Klopp. He would leave Anfield at the end of his contract in 2023 and sign for Besiktas, making 38 appearances for the Turkish side, before leaving in August last year and has been a free agent since.
