As per Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports, Celtic are open to “low offers” for on-loan defender Stephen Welsh but would demand a significant sell-on percentage if they were to trigger their re-call option.
The 25-year-old came through Celtic’s youth academy before going out on loan to Championship club Greenock Morton in 2019/20, when he was just 20. He was recalled that January cutting the loan short and made his Celtic debut in a 4-1 win away against Hamilton in February 2020.
After two consecutive solid seasons at Celtic, Welsh plateaued and has struggled to find consistent game time at Parkhead, prompting a loan move last season to Belgian side KV Mechelen. This season Welsh was loaned out to Motherwell, where he has impressed, making 15 appearances for the Steelmen in the first half of the season, almost as many as he managed in the entirety of last campaign.
