Chelsea Interested in Manchester City Midfielder

According to Jack Gaughan, who Football Park rate as a tier three source, is reporting that Chelsea are monitoring the situation of James McAtee.

The 21-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, gaining valuable Premier League experience in his second stint at the Blades.

Across two seasons in Sheffield, McAtee scored 14 goals, and provided eight assists for teammates.

New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, who was previously the manager of City’s Elite Development squad, desperately tried to sign McAtee last season when he led Leicester to the Championship title.

Despite Chelsea’s known interest, Pep Guardiola has decided to take McAtee with his squad on their pre-season tour of the USA, potentially to assess whether he wants to keep McAtee or green light a sale.

Currently, there’s no reported contact between the two clubs over the England youth international, but it’s safe to assume any negotiations that do take place will be after City’s tour of the US.

McAtee has only made six first team appearances for City, and after seeing how well Cole Palmer has developed since ditching the Etihad for Stamford Bridge, he might feel it’s the right time to move on.
