Chelsea Keen to Sign Striker This Summer

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are interested in bringing Dominic Calvert-Lewin to the club this summer.

New manager Enzo Maresca is clearly keen to bolster Chelsea’s squad, and his attention has turned to a goalscorer.

The Everton striker has just one year left on his contract, and with the Toffees in financial turmoil, they could be forced to sell. However, he has been offered a new contract at Goodison Park.

It’s unclear whether the former England international will commit his future to Everton, but now aged 27, he may see this as one last opportunity to secure a big move. Calvert-Lewin has managed eight goals and three assists in all competitions this season, his highest tally since the 2020/21 season.

Chelsea are also interested in RB Leipzig forward, Benjamin Sesko. Arsenal have made contact with the Slovenian, and Manchester United have declared their interest. Sesko would cost significantly more than Calvert-Lewin, with the 21-year-old having a release clause of around €65 million.

Given Chelsea’s financial position this summer, they would have to raise funds before investing. They have placed a £50 million price tag on Conor Gallagher, and are also keen to offload Trevoh Chalobah. Both sales would count as purely profit for FFP reports, because the players are academy products.

Chelsea have also been taking advantage of the free agent market. It looks likely that Fulham defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, will sign for the Blues on a free transfer.
