Chelsea To Offload 24 Year Old Star Player
Chelsea are seriously struggling this season. They are currently 11th in the Premier League table despite having one of the most expensive squads in the world. It’s clear that there are serious changes needed at Stamford bridge.
Ever since American billionaire Todd Boehly took over the club in May 2022, they have spent an excess of 1 billion Pounds. Meanwhile results haven’t gone their way which means that they haven’t been able to regenerate the money invested at all and hence they could face trouble from financial fair play. Hence, they could be forced to offload some of their players in the summer.
If reports are to be believed, Chelsea could look to cash in on their club captain Reece James. The Englishman is a hero at Stamford Bridge and is one of the best players in the world when he is available to play but unfortunately, injuries have plagued him for the last 2 seasons and he has barely seen any continuity in play. Thus, Chelsea might look to move him on this summer, whilst his stock is still high.

Despite all his injury woes, many clubs would jump at the opportunity to sign the 24 year old right back. He’s cemented himself amongst the best players in the world in his position and the levels he showed before his injury struggles started were extremely high. Whilst there are no clubs mentioned in the media as of yet, Real Madrid are a team that have been linked with Reece in the past and could decide to make a move for him if he’s available. There would also be other top clubs interested but it remains to be seen if he’s on the market.
Reece James is currently focused on recovering from his latest setback. He was very excited at the opportunity to captain Chelsea according to Mauricio Pochettino. Reece took to Instagram in August to thank the fans for their support. He wrote : “Forever thankful for the support. Missing being out there. But working hard to come back stronger than before, both physically and mentally. Stay well and I’ll see you soon. The marathon continues.”
He is expected to make his return from injury in April. It remains to be seen if these would be his last appearances in the Chelsea shirt but the blues could really require a player of his calibre on the field right now. Very interesting situation for the summer.
