Como Target Out of Contract World Cup Winner
After completing the signing of Belotti, as previously reported, Como 1907 are now targeting a move for French centre back Raphael Varane this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, who Football Park ranks as a tier one source.
With his contract at Manchester United expiring in just a few days, the 31-year-old will be available to sign on a free transfer.
The defender is reportedly a dream target for the newly promoted Serie A club.
Despite the links, Varane has also attracted interest from multiple other European clubs.
The player is set to decide on his future soon.

Cesc Fabregas wants Varane and they will try to make it happen, but there are several clubs interested in Europe and abroad — not an easy one.

Why are Como targeting Raphael Varane?
Since signing in 2021 for a potential fee of £42 million, Varane has had a disappointing spell with the Red Devils.
After finishing runners-up behind arch-rivals Manchester City in the 2020/21 Premier League season, the Frenchman was signed alongside Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo to take United that one step further. However, it did not pan out that way.
Since his arrival, the team have failed to challenge at the top of the table, even being surpassed by the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Alongside this, the centre back has struggled to stay fit, featuring in under two thirds of the club’s matches over the past three years.

As a result, the club decided against exercising the option of a further year in his contract and the defender will leave for free this summer.
Varane may not have lived up to the heights expected of him at United, however at just 31-years-old, the Frenchman is still more than capable of performing in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
As well as quality, the four-time Champions League winner would bring experience of succeeding at the top level to any club that he joined. Varane paired Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos in the heart of Los Blancos’ defence for the best part of a decade in Spain and won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France.
Despite an underwhelming cameo in England, Varane also featured for United in both their Carabao Cup and FA Cup final triumphs.
Alongside Como, David Beckham’s Inter Miami are also interested in the player. The American side have recruited the likes of Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi from Europe in recent seasons.
🇫🇷🇺🇸 On Rapha Varane links: Inter Miami have just made an approach to ask on Varane potential free agent deal conditions, nothing else at the moment.
