Cristiano Ronaldo Scores 900th Career Goal… But How Did He Get There?
On Thursday night, in a game between Portugal and Croatia, Cristiano Ronaldo made history once again.
During the game he scored his 900th career goal setting himself as probably the greatest finisher the football world has ever seen. But how did he get here?
In this article we are going to have a look at some of the milestone’s he has reached to get to this point.

Ronaldo’s first career goal came in October 2002 and in typical CR7 fashion he didn’t open his career account with just 1 goal but instead 2. And again in typical Ronaldo fashion it wasn’t a bad way to open your career account.
A then 17 year old Cristiano Ronaldo picked the ball up just inside the opposition half. Running through the middle he skips past the challenging defenders, does a cheeky stepover to get around the last defender and places the ball nicely past the keeper.
Even that young he made it look easy and set himself up for a career of a lot more goals in style.

It wasn’t too long after signing for Manchester United that Ronaldo hit his 10th career goal.
It was May 2003 away to Aston Villa. Ronaldo picked the ball up on the right hand side of the pitch in a world of space. And with plenty of time to get forward that is exactly what he did striking the ball into the bottom corner from just outside the box. And just 4 minutes into the game.
This was his 5th goal for the Red Devils. He would go on to score 118 for the club.

Ronaldo loves a freekick goal and that’s exactly how he grabbed his 50th career goal.
Maybe not his most iconic freekick goal vs Portsmouth but this one was pretty special in itself.
Ronaldo stepped up to take a freekick from just over 30 yards out in November 2006 and proceeded to strike a powerful freekick past Portsmouth keeper David James. Giving James absolutely no chance of stopping it.
David James’ worst enemy must be a freekick taken by Ronaldo because just over a year later he scored an even better freekick against him that is edged in Premier League history.

Ronaldo finally hit triple digits in January 2008 as he helped United turn around a 1-0 deficit to win 3-1 against Spurs.
It may not have been Ronaldo’s best goal but it is certainly iconic for it being his 100th career goal.
On the left hand side of the box Ronaldo takes on the defenders, cuts inside and hits a powerful shot hard and low. The ball took a bit of a deflection and bobbled under the Tottenham keeper. This, to win the game.

This may be a bit of a jump from his 100th but if we spoke about every goal we really would be here all day.
7 Years after scoring his 100th goal at Manchester United Ronaldo hit the 500 goal milestone. This goal came against Malmo in the 2015/16 Champions League campaign - a year where Madrid would win the UCL title.
Ronaldo got on the end of an exquisite Dani Carvajal through ball and one on one with the keeper this was only ending 1 way. Ronaldo putting the ball into the back of the net. Marking it off with his iconic SUI celebration

And finally, Ronaldo has scored his 900th career goal in a UEFA Nations League fixture against Croatia.
A beautiful cross from Nuno Mendes was met by an on running Ronaldo to slot the ball home with a first time side footed volley. From so close in the keeper had no chance and the Croatian defenders could do nothing but watch in awe as CR7 pulled away to celebrate.

900 goals is an unbelievable achievement and surely it is only a matter of time before he hits 1000 goals as well.
But the real question is… with this incredible achievement is CR7 the GOAT?
