Crystal Palace Attempting To Hijack Move For Lyon Winger

Crystal Palace Bid for Malick Fofana After Sunderland Deal Agreed

It Appears they could be one more twist in the future of 21-year old winger Malick Fofana, with the Belgian subject of a hijack attempt from Crystal Palace after a deal was agreed with Sunderland.

Arsenal and the North East side had reprotbaly been interested in Fofana, but after the Gunners decided against moving for the Belgian, the Black Cats agreed a deal worth €30 million + €5 million for the winger and it appeared he was on his way to the Stadium of Light on deadline day.

However, as first called by Santi Aouna, Crystal Palace have sent a bid for Fofana and are attempting to turn the tide of the deal and bring Fofana to South London.

Fofana has become a key player for Lyon since arriving from Gent, however the French giants are in need of sales following an exit from the UEFA Champions League after being defeated by Turkish side Fenerbache in the playoff round, with Fofana able to bring in much needed funds.

With Palace offering similar terms to what was agreed with Sunderland, it is now up to the player to decide his future, and decide whether it will be the Black Cats or the Eagles with both sides offering UEFA Europa League football after Sunderland's 7th place finish and Palace's UEFA Conference League victory under Oliver Glasner.

Fofana scored 11 goals in an impressive campagin in the 2024/25 season, but struggled for fitness in the following season with surgury following an ankle injury keeping him out for much of the camaign.
